well this may be a bit longer than expected but i completed gears of war 2 today.

was very impressed by the game i did it on casual, im not the type to go through on more diff levels so im trading it in. had i had xbox live i would have played it a bit longer.

CAMPAIN

resistance 2 has segments that are equal to gears 2 in thrill factor but it has more lull segments than gears 2 does hence gears 2 was a little bit more consistant in the campain, although resistance 2 campain is just as good but not as consistant in fun factor (canyon level i hated). brumak stage in gears of war 2 was a real blast.

MULTI

multiplay i tried the offline matches and didnt like it, i take it online would be the same was just to slow, resistance 2 online was good but they changed the gameplay from the cod/twitch/easy kill type of shootouts from resistance 1 to more full clip=1kill which i didnt like. so overall i wasnt to fond of either

SOUND

excellent music in both and good voice acting

GRAFIX

technically resistance 2 impressed more but gears 2 impressed more in art work especially latter levels they looked absolutley superb

overall both were good games and well worth a play through, although id give a slight nod to gears 2 because of a more fun campain.

id settle with a 9.0-9.1 for gears 2 vs 8.8-8.9 for resistance 2, and i would certainly recomend anyone to try them both out.

That's good, Gears of War 2 is a great game.

Nice comparison, both games are quality. It just depends on personal taste. Looks like you enjoyed both and as a gamer, that is all that matters.

I loved the Canyon level in R2, though I can see why some disliked it.

The Louisiana level was the most fun I've had gaming in a while. Seriously, I thought the R2 campaign was fantastic.

I haven't played Gears 2 for more than 10-15 minutes, I liked it for those 10-15 minutes, though.

I guess I'm just easy to please.

Well what a coincidence...me and Skeeuk disagre again. I'd give Gears 2 8.5-8.7...NOT 9.0-9.1!

Luckily I didn't play Resistance 2 because we'd have another huge disagreement for sure.

I was a little disappointed with Resistance 2. After I enjoyed R:FOM so much I was really hoping for another great game but just felt the story (which was interesting and well paced in the first) was a little slow, although i did love the ending. It was still a good game but wasn't quite as fun as the first for me. I think the biggest factor was dropping the ability to carry all the weapons and limiting it to only two. The fun and unique weapons in R:FOM was what made it a better game than Gears 1 IMO. I enjoyed Gears 2 much more than Gears 1, although I thought the story was still relatively poor. I have to give credit to Gears in the graphics department as although Resistance is ok there isn't really much of a comparison.

The online coop on R2 really saves the game and was great fun but with not owning an 360 I haven't played Gears online so can't really compare.

So for me

R:FOM > Gears 1 but R2 = Gears 2

To keep it short I would give Gears 2 a 9.5 and Resistance 2 a 9.4

^Totally agree, I've played both games although still got a bit left to do on gears 2, I'd give Gears 2 9.1-9.2 and resistance 2 8.4-8.5, can't go wrong with either though tbh....
