Every time I've tried to apply mods it has screwed up my games. So no thanks, not worth the hassle for me.

Same for me, about 5 years ago after I learned where all the folders go. Haven't had a hitch yet. Get fore free what others pay for as DLC. I'm looking at you LBP costumes.

i have a lot of pc games and i haven't play a single mod damn.

You really have to like a specific game a LOT before you get into mods.

That's one thing I've noticed about heavy PC gaming fans; they often play the same game for the better part of ten years (not exclusively obviously).

But there are a lot of people who like tooling around with in-game resources for the amusement factor, and in some instances (many of the HL-2 mods) players/artists/coders can actually improve the game by giving the textures and even lighting effects updates(Crysis).

Of course not every gamer is into that. Overall it's a pretty small niche within PC gaming. But if that's your thing, naturally you'll think PC gaming is where its at.

Well, i was never into PC gaming until Oblivion. I needed a PC and Oblivion at the time was only on 360 and PC. So i skipped the 360 and got a PC then i realized what a better choice i made because of the mods. (And cheat codes lol) I only use cheat codes to have fun with after i beat a game normally. But i didn't get into mods until i basically finished the game. I was looking around and found them. I always wanted my character to have long hair. Then it just blew up after that and i couldn't stop getting mods. I wen to clothing and then nude characters lol. Oblivion started it all.

yes, the modding ability on the pc is a blast. Truly, it's one of the best thing of Pc gaming.

I love my mods. I generally wait a couple of months after a Bethesda release so I can pick up some higher res texture packs and some nice game play tweaks. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 have been pretty much transformed with mods ranging from a lovely widescreen mod, to extra quests, character dialogue, streamlined inventory management and rebalanced items. Paid-for DLC can poke it, give me a good community anyday. I'm surprised that Microsoft in particular are short sighted enough not to see the longevity a good mod scene can bring to a game, but I suppose they want people to finish their games quickly and move on and buy something else.

mods really are awesome. I'm playing Mount & Blade with a mod called Prophecy of Pendor, which VASTLY improves the game - with that mod, the game became hundred times more awesome than the vanila version.

Yay more people who love mods. speking of textures and making a game better i remember the Morrowind project that was to totally remake morrowind with Oblivion graphics but it got shut down by Bethesda

Coincidentally, Rock Paper Shotgun are reporting that there's a Diablo 2 mod allowing you to play at decent resolutions. I might just dust that down for another RSI session...

Since you mentioned Diablo i was wondering are there mods for star Craft? That would be awesome. I hope Star Craft II will have mods.
