The latest issue of PlayStation The Official Magazine reveals a new environment for the highly anticipated game, Modnation Racers.

Up til now, the countryside environment (pictured above) was the only one shown off. This screen scan shows off a never-before-seen locale…the jungle!

First shown off at this year’s E3, Modnation Racers is looking to blend arcade racing with user created levels and content. The creation system the game boasts is incredibly fluid and easy, as it allows players to create a fully functioning level within minutes. The player then has the option to upload the level, for all to play; instantly.

It currently does not have a solid release date, but the developer, United Front Games, is shooting for a 2010 time frame.

I think that's awesome news! The forest environment seems kind of bland to me. I was hoping for brighter settings and I think the game will deliver it now.

This is one of my most anticipated PS3 games. Should be a blast to play with my little brother and sister when they visit.

I'm starting to get excited about this game.

I still don't think you'll have the near freedom you have in LBP though. You can turn LBP from a platformer into a variety of game types via the editor. Unless they give you such freedoms via switches and stuff to make battle royales, etc. in MNR, I don't think the game will be quite as enticing.

@ makingmusic: I think they are fully going for a Mario Kart-feel. If they manage that, this game should blow past LBP imho.

Well, at least the consoles are getting "mod" stuff this generation. It does look fun to play for sure!



Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

They can try.  Any developer would be hard pressed to match Mario Kart for me, though.

Looks like "Little Big Kart" to me. It may provide more, I don't know, but for a Sony exclusive in a similar vein I'd be much more excited for a TM:B2. This just seems too... "me too."
