There is a hindu swastika too, that's supposed to represent luck and the sun or something like that. The Hindu swastika is twisted in the opposite way from the european one.

Exactly... The Swastika is a symbol for good luck UNLESS its slanted.. that's the Nazi swastika. The one in Zelda is not slanted, therefore it is an Asian symbol of good luck. Do you really want Nintendo to change a classic game that's 22 years old just because some people don't understand what a Nazi swastika looks like?

It's a swastika, but you have to understand that people in the East don't equate it with Nazis, they equate it with Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Pretty much any religion that acknowledges dharma will incorporate it in some way.
Call it an unfortunate (if insensitive) coincidence.
