Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo needs a PSN/XBL service for multiplayer next gen

^^ exactly! :D

Give me universal FC's and I'm fine. HVS and NHL2K10 are setting the bar for Wii Multiplayer Games. I hope COD 7 and MOH:Opereation Anaconda follow in their footsteps.

Online limits success. People from the HD camp don't wanna hear that, because they're so caught up in their Borg agenda.

Making a game online cuts everything off, it diminishes the power of word of mouth by minimizing local multiplayer. By making it easier to find a robot to play with, who already owns all the products that are necessary. You don't bring anybody new in.

Nintendo is better off finding new ways to differentiate their own multiplayer value, which is local. This is very important.

Online closes people off. I know it's convenient for certain gameRs, but it's not in Nintendo's best interest, or anybody's really. If they want to improve their online they better make sure the people connecting know each other personally and engage on a regular basis. They better not take the Microsoft/Sony bait, which is in reality a little box.

No, they won't need it. You're thinking that they do because you're being wishful. You want it, and that's it. Nintendo's value has very much to do with forcing people to make an extra effort to find people to play with physically, if they lose that they close gaming off. And to the people wanting online gaming, they can either have it on other systems and go for Nintendo's differentiation, or they can occasionally try online in a slightly different way

The PSN/Live. Not a good thing.

a type of Onlie service would make communicating easier, we could also kno whos online at the moment and wat not..

they need it now!.

i been trying to get into brawl again, but online prevents me... and i don't have anyone to play that lives nearby =(

It's not that black and white. While the other two consoles are losing, no one has ever claimed it's because they took a proactive approach to online gaming. In fact, one of Microsoft's best sources of revenue is everything they get through XBLA and community titles on Live, their downloadable movie store and their Live Gold subscriptions. Don't think Nintendo hasn't noticed either. I'm fairly sure WiiWare was a result of playing a bit of catch up. Now Nintendo is embracing movies and tv shows on the service and there's a rumor Netflix might come.

Do you seriously believe this? Do you realize how well 360 has done in America with selling people on playing online together? Trust me, if all your friends were playing online together, you would want in too.
