Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else pissed off by Lionsgate's statements about the wii?

i also the thought the whole hardcore/casual thing  was mostly confined to some ignorant idoits on the internet. But now we have lionsgate gate saying that as the wii has a casual audience they will prefer mass maket films whilst the hardcore consoles get the action films. What the hel! the human race is not divide into hardcore who like swearing gore and violence and casuals who deplore all that and like having fun for all the family.  it just seemed to me that the because you own a wii that means that you dont like action or horror films. so because my dad plays brain trainging, professor layton and fire emblem instead of halo, GTA and assasins creed that means  he wont want to watch Rambo or Saw V? the ultimate irony will be when they put Ju-on: the Grudge onto PS3 and 360 but dont but it on wii

total dick.

i been watching horror movies since I was 4. I still love my wii.

so i should stop watching horror movies I guess haha.

The Wii can play movies? I thought it was a Monopoly box you're supposed to keep in your closet with R Kelly and your skelotons.

Action films and mass market films are not one in the same? Could have fooled me since there's a big correlation between big explosions/giant disasters happening on screen and making big money at the box office. I thought low budget indy dramas and comedies are the non-mass market films, and I don't see those on PSN and XBLA at all.

Why isn't there a console for people like me then, who like Kubrick, Lynch, and art films? Why are we ignored?

OT - I agree that is a terrible generalization. Also, after Transformers, Terminator Salvation, etc. this summer I'd rather admit to anything than preferring action films like those.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

It's also worth mentioning that I'm fairly sure horror movies have a heavy lean towards female teenagers, and that demographic I believe plays the Wii for more than playing the other two consoles. Seems like a good fit to me. Throw a lot of romantic comedies in there also.

Action-movies are the most casual-movies out there

If you mean poor quality, predictable and mass-made slashers ten yes you are correct. If you mean quality gore/psycho horror movies then no

OT: yes it was a terrible generaliuzation, and if anything I bealive that if Nintendo would somehow manage to create a good storage solution, the Wii could become the biggest home entertainment center witha  quality music/movie download service

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

its crap especially when u consider ALL movies these days, including horrors, are edited and ruined to be mass consumed PG kiddy films. Its a pretty stupid comment but really goes to show just how much the propaganda system has ruined the Wii's reputation.

Of course the opposite of all this is confidence in the inability for MS or Sony to ever sell any game or movie that doesn't fit their very very very narrow criteria for a "core product". And believe me its narrow, selling Natal to this audience is going to be tough.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

PS3 = Nightmare on Wall Street
Xbox 360 = Return of the Living Console
Wii = Shaun of the dead
