Your view of logic is an odd one.

First of all... The PS2 is around 137-138 million shipped at the moment... so for it to outsell the combined non-Wii Nintendo home consoles it needs another 28 million... a figure that is so incredibly improbable (ie, the PS3 is not even certain to manage it) that it defies logic.

Second of all, the Wii's current profitability is already treble that of the combined PS family... why do you think it will not manage quadruple when the Wii is current'y making huge profits and the PS familyof consoles is either losing money, or at best staying in the same place.

Not sure where all the Ps2 hate is coming from but I agree with this post. Wii is tracking to sell better then Ps2 lifetime, however this gen is so split between 3 consoles that the HD twins might eat into Wii potential sales. Last gen it was a clean sweep for the Ps2.

TheSource just released a thread (Previewing Nintendo's and Sony's June Quarter Results) outlining Sony and Nintendo's projected shipments for the year, and it states the PS2 has "only" shipped 136.3m consoles as of March 2009.

From Christmas 2008 until now, the PS2 has only sold 2.09m. That is 2.09m in 8 months. Since March 30th, it has sold 1.04m up until now.

Get your facts straight. At most, it outsold the NES, Super Nintendo, and Gamecube combined. Leave the N64 out of this.
