@Shadowblind

I am already confident that Vesperia will be the much better title.

It is only Tales game that sucked me in.

Well then, I want to know HOW much better

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Around the Network

You shall know.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I played both (symphonia1 first) and I really think that you should play Tales of Symphonia 1 first. You meet most of the characters in TOS2 and you won't know who they are if you skip TOS1. There are also A LOT plot references to the original TOS, and plot spoilers (especially the the key surprises and the ending of TOS1)

the characters make many references to TOS1, you'll be totally lost and won't be able to understand what they're talking about.

also, i think that TOS2 is quite an updrage from TOS1 in many ways:
-LOTS more voice acting
-much better animation
-better battle system with a few issues fixed
-monsters and all the strategy that comes with them
so if you play TOS2 and then decide to go back and play TOS1 you'll feel like you're playing an inferior version.

Besides all that, TOS1 is a wonderful game I'd recomend to any RPG fan, especially if you like fantasy elements, mythology, angels, gods...etc

After the first 1/3 (Or is it 1/3? The game is pretty long. Anyway, I still thought it was awesome) you'll probably like ToS a lot more.

I just thought the first third of the game was extremely cliche  (up until the first time you visit the tower of salvation). It could be less than a third of the way through I'm not sure.  You have to expect a certain level of corniness in a JRPG but ToS did seem overboard at first. I'm not saying the rest is completely original but it got a lot more interesting after that point.

Fingers crossed the PS3 version of Vesperia makes it the to US and/or Europe I want to compare the two titles. So close to buying an XB360 just to play Vesperia...
