I just thought the first third of the game was extremely cliche (up until the first time you visit the tower of salvation). It could be less than a third of the way through I'm not sure. You have to expect a certain level of corniness in a JRPG but ToS did seem overboard at first. I'm not saying the rest is completely original but it got a lot more interesting after that point.
Fingers crossed the PS3 version of Vesperia makes it the to US and/or Europe I want to compare the two titles. So close to buying an XB360 just to play Vesperia...
