I loved Heretic! The mood and atmosphere was strong in that game, and it had a nice level and game world design. I wish someone would 'unforget' this franchise and revive it.

Maybe this is Heretic II. That was even better. But I remember I played Heretic 1 too:

OOOh I remember that game but forgot the name!

Do you remember Severance : Blade of Darkness for PC?'

I loved Severance!

Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon for Nintendo 64. It's downright fantastic. Nobody seems to know about it though.

thank you! great level design, weapons, uses doom engine (well pt. 1 that is) and the sounds...it was creppy for its time. The part 2 pic shown here doesn't look familiar at all! I thought Hexen was part 2?

You are right, I'm starting to remember now. Which I should because both these games + Hexen were some of my absolut favorite games in the 90's.

Heretic came first - Doom engine, and incredibly creepy sounds!! I remember these green or blue ghouls or demons making the creepiest sounds of them all (was it their death yell?). Made me shiver.

Hexen - sequel to Heretic, or at least chronologically it was. I remember it had more advanced graphics, with even leaves blowing in the wind and stuff.

Heretic II - the first screen I posted and made with the Quake engine. It was in third person and the elf hero's name was Corvus. But i dont remember how close tied that story was to the original Heretic actually. It even had co-op online. Didn't you play Heretic II?

And maybe there also was a Hexen II, Im not sure.

Yes Hexen has a nice graphical improvement over heretic, leaf detail etc. I'm trying to remember the ghouls/demon you're talking about that sounded creepiest. Tell me from here which one it is:

I never played Heretic 2....played Hexen 2 though....I'm trying to remember which one of the Hexens had more hand-based weapons?

but was Heretic 2 good? Sounded interesting with the Quake engine.

the FPS Black. AMAZING game. One of my favorite FPS ever.

Undead Warrior

Hit Points: 200
Attack: 3-24 melee / 2-16 for green axe, 7-56 for red axe

As part of the Order's insidious plot to control your world, they've recruited the dead, gave them armor and armed them with deadly magic axes. Now they guard the evil cities and toss their infinite supply of axes at any elf who passes by

Also come in the form of ghosts. Monsters in a ghost form appear transparent and are impervious to normal man-made weapons.

Tips: Dodge the axes and send back some Crossbow bolts. Watch out for the red axes, 2 of them can already kill you. Beware of the ghost version of this foe, it fires only red axes.

^ It's those kind of, apparently they come in a transparent ghost form. They were so creepy (and more green from what i remember).

So there was a Hexen II? I always mix Hexen and Hexen II.

Yes, Heretic was very good. It tried to be more RPG and medieval fantasy, like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

2 was pretty bad...And Blood Omens were medicore.
