Ok I don't get it.
Spyborg which is a relatively minor game gets a thread complaining about no online-coop.
Yet New Super Mario Bros Wii won't have online co-op and there aren't any thread to complain about it ???
Nintendo can't do wrong !!!!!!!!!

| Onyxmeth said: It all starts at the top. Something like online gaming will only get ahead if the console maker takes it seriously. MS and Sony take it seriously. Nintendo doesn't. It sets precedents that third parties follow. Putting in online is additional costs. If third parties see most successful Wii games don't have online play, even when they could have, then guess what, they'll follow suit because they won't see an added sales benefit to it. It's precisely why so many games on the 360 and PS3 do have online gameplay/co-op. They see that so many big sellers have it and want to be able to entice buyers with it. If you as a Wii gamer don't want to stand for this treatment, then it's simple. Don't support games that should have online co-op but do not. In other words, don't buy Spyborgs...and don't buy New Super Mario Bros. Wii either. |
What this man said! Well minus the part about not buying NSMBWii. Thats just silly. Everyone should buy it so I can get more 2D platformers to play.
he said online co-op because a lot of nintendo games do have local co-op. But he's right, online multiplayer is becoming very important for success. It doesn't have to be anything different than what's in local multiplayer, they just need to start extending the options to online.

As always Ail trolling, what's new here? Where did I complain about Spyborgs not having online? You will be banned really soon, trust me.

Honestly, I thought this thread was far more about the attitude of the developer than anything else ... A company can choose to include or exclude any features they want, but when their reason is fairly weak they should expect criticism. Basically, all a company ever needs to say when they are about to release a new IP to justify dropping features is "We wanted to focus or efforts towards making the best experience possible, and not necessarily on having the most features, so we picked the features we thought we most important and focused on implementing them well".

Online co-op is not an independant gameplay element. Its not like there is an online co-op genre the Wii is missing that the other systems are getting. It is a feature that is put into games. It is possible to do it on all systems. This is like waiting for a game to use rumble on the PS3. This is nothing like waiting for a JRPG on any console. Your comparisons are getting worse as we continue to argue. Do you even understand what you are saying? Or are you just randomly mashing keys on your keyboard? |
I know it's not an independent feature. I know it's not it's own genre. But NOT THAT MANY DEVELOPERS ARE IMPLEMENTING IT INTO THEIR WII GAMES! That's what I'm trying to say. It's *possible* to do it on the Wii. The Wii has online capabilities....but how many games have that feature for the Wii? And how many games would you like to play with said feature? I bet there's probably a discrepancy in the numbers there.
An Apple Macbook is plenty capable of playing games, but developers seem to only put most of their games on PC. As a Mac owner...do you complain to them, or do you get a PC instead?

It's quite easy. He's saying that it's a shame that 3rd parties aren't putting co-op in their games for the Wii (as if he enjoys the feature......although he just said he doesn't care about it). I'm saying that if online co-op is such a big deal, then go to where it is more widely available instead of complaining about your lack of the feature. And then at the end of the post, a witty analogy that applies to the situation
Example, both McDonald's and Burger King both have onions as ingredients, but only McDonald's puts onions on their standard cheeseburgers. If you ask for onions on a BK cheeseburger, they'll charge you extra. Do you complain to BK that your $1 isn't giving you all you want, or do you go to McDonald's and get a cheeseburger with onions, at no extra cost?
(I just bullshitted that one lol)
The point is, if their are alternatives that give you what you want, while what you DO have, DOESN'T give you what you want....GO GET THE ALTERNATIVE. The same thing that's happening here, happened in the Modern Warfare 2: Wii rumor thread. "CoD: WaW sold over a million on the Wii, they should put MW2 on the Wii". It's not happening, buy an HD console instead of complaining.
It happens whenever a JRPG ends up exclusive to the 360. "The PS3 is better in Japan. It makes better sense to be on the PS3" It's not coming to the PS3, buy a 360 instead of complaining.
It happens everytime a "core" 3rd party game doesn't sell that well on the Wii. "It would have sold a lot more if they put it on the HD consoles. They should make an HD version". It's not going to happen, buy a Wii to play the game instead of complaining.
And now, it's happening when 3rd parties aren't implementing online co-op. "The Wii is capable of online co-op. These companies should start putting it in their games". Online co-op is obviously not a concern to them with the Wii games. Buy an HD console, where many games already have online co-op and many games to come will have online co-op, instead of complaining.
I'm just not a fan of complaining

@Gnizmo
It's not a matter of just Spyborgs. My original post came out of seeing others calling out Capcom for not putting online co-op in this particular game, followed by a pattern of people calling out "3rd parties" (as a general term for all of them) for not putting the feature in their own games. Or even better, that they're being "lazy".
To which I said, "If you want online co-op a lot more often, get an HD console, instead of complaining that 3rd parties are implementing the feature, en masse, on the Wii"
Edit: I see you edited your post. Ok, so you don't care about online co-op, so this thread shouldn't even matter to you. But to the people who DO want online co-op, and are upset with the growing trend of games NOT having online co-op on the Wii, what I'm saying makes perfect sense and is not "retarded fanboy nonsense". It's a feature that these people apparently care about, and obviously enough if "a bit better than a half dozen" games wasn't enough to stop them from saying "3rd parties are just lazy for not putting online- co-op in their games"

Again no, you miss my point. It is retarded to tell someone to buy a different console to play an exclusive game. Its like saying someone should buy a Wii if they wanted to play Resistance with IR contols. Its a retarded argument with no real logic. It is neither a shame, nor a blessing to have any online feature in a game. I don't use them.
