I'm thinking the GPU, Mobo, Ram, and CPU probably cost around $300 total.

But really that's where I'm coming from, A not so expensive PC running a console game well enough. According to some, that should be impossible without a $2000 computer :P

My processor was $200. Ram is 2x2gb g-skill ddr2-1000, and was $65.

Did you get a killer deal or just buy that processor? It's only recently dropped to $200 AFAIK, on newegg.com of all places.

Not especially, no. I paid $200 canadian in late october 2008 before the canadian dollar dropped in value. The q6600 actually went up in price on canadian sites since then.

On the American Newegg, the Q6600 was hovering around $210 the last time I looked a few weeks ago.

Seems to be a pretty kickass CPU too. Very overclockable for the price.

Canadian prices, so unfortunately no. This is off memory... bought in october 2008.

Gigabyte EP45-DS3R - $115 after MIR

2X2GB G-Skill DDR2-1000 - $65

Intel Q6600 - $200 (cpu cooler + paste $25)

Asus 8800gs 384mb - $50 after MIR

$445

Worth every penny as a gaming computer and hackintosh

No it doesn't look that bad as in that weird picture..
Anyway it just looks like RE5 on consoles, but with lots of AA.

OT:
I tried it, but there must be something wrong, because everything went perfect in the first two scenes (about 75 in the 1st and 45 FPS in the 2nd scene on MAX settings), but then went down to 14 FPS at the beginning of the 3rd scene.
Doesn't make sense because there were much more people in scene 2 and a much larger area.
I'll try it again tomorrow.

Might be because of the water. What's your processor?

No I stopped the benchmark before I saw any water ^^

I have a Core 2 Duo E8400.

Oh definitely. It's still probably the best Quad Core for the price at the moment, this long after its release.

The only other reason I could think is your GPU getting too hot and reducing performance...but that's so unlikely since this is like a 5 minute test.

Yea I was too low, lol.

Still, pretty good for the price.

I was going to tease you about your $300 estimate :P

...I'm just too good of a person though (Hahaha...not!)

Meh, oh well.

To be honest, I didn't even catch "q6600" in the post for some reason. Something like the e7400 was in my mind at that time.
