Sony truly is delusional.

It's delusional to think PR statements meant to instill confidence in share holders and potential customers is an accurate representation of the mindset of a company.

They'll show a strong face to the public, but behind closed doors, the real talk will take place.

So that's where Snake612 is!

Thats incredible... head in the sand or what? Its gone from spin to idiotic lies.

How is there any momentum for the PS3? How is there continued enthusiasm (whatever that means) for infamous?

No mention of how they are doing towards the 13m shipped though hey....

I'm sorry, can you think of anything better that portrays Sony's situation in a positive light?

right now?....not really...

following a price cut... then possibly (depends on the amount and timing)

I still think the only good strategy is $100 in early November.

Agreed. They sorely need a pricedrop if the hope to ever move any serious hardware. With a November pricecut they might get a decent holiday season this year (as in; won't be outsold quite as badly as 2:1...).

So unless you want Sony to say "We are in dead last, PS3 sales suck, and show no sign of improving in the near future (without a price cut which we refuse to announce)", I advise you stop criticising their statements.

Note: I am not trolling. Just stating facts.

And I will ignore your advice... I dont expect them to say that... but I do expect them to be more realistic.

Sony has a history of lying to its shareholders.. not just in PR statemtns either, where as you say it is understandable I guess.... but in official stock market releases regarding expected earnings.

Why cant they say we are confident that momentum will increase with upcoming quality releases and a winning strategy. Positive and possibly true... no?

Sony basically said that. You know they only said the stuff inside the "quotation marks", right?

The thing is what can Sony do that'll help their sales and their finances at the same time? If they release a Slim then yeah they can possibly make some money out of it but surely that'd mean they would hold back on cutting the price to make as much profit as possible? Of course if they just cut the price they would be losing even more money BUT they would have more sales and yeah if they cut the price AND release a slim then they wouldn't be making much money on it.

Imo if they release GT then that's by far their best chance of having a chance of making an impact in the holiday season! That way they'll beat 360 at least once and they have a chance of possibly overshadowing one of Microsoft's biggest releases in Forza 3 as a lot of people will pay attention to the bigger brand unless Forza 3 is as good as Turn 10 says it is!

Speaking of brand names though how long can Sony keep saying about how their brand is what will keep them going when all they're doing is killing it? This coming from a Nintendo fan who always said that he'd get a PS3 at one point for until he was swayed by so many good deals for 360 (and because Final Fantasy was announced as coming to it) thus since I bought one I've now been sucked into Xbox franchises like Gears and Halo. Saying that I thought the PS2 when i bought it was overated anyway. *builds fort equipped with bubble shield and packs some Super Mushrooms against people not liking his opinion*

"With positive momentum of PS3 hardware over the past two months"

I love how lower PS3 hardware sales every single month this year compared to last year equals "positive momentum"...
How many post-NPD Sony PR statements have now used the word "momentum"? It has replaced "family" as their favorite word.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick
