They gave Super Mario 64 a 9.4 when it first came out, but they gave Sunshine an 8.0, and NSMB a 9.0.

Also, when they reviewed SM64 for VC they gave it an 8.

Actually, they gave all those games an 8.8. In fact, every Nintendo game ever has gotten an 8.8 from Gamespot.

Seriously though, I didn't know about the VC score, that is a total disgrace. Other than graphics*, if the exact same game was released today as a new title it would deserve better than that. Might as well but a "We H8 Nintendo" banner on their front page. (Or is that H8.8?)

*Well, I've heard complaints about the camera, but it was never a real issue for me.

Seriously, dude, there's no way you could give Mario 64 a 9.5 in todays standards. Now, if it were a remake like Ninja Gaiden Sigma, for example, then giving it a high score would be fine.
