More exciting is the suggestion, and this is definitely straying into wild rumour territory, that a new colour of console could be introduced, with black leading the pack as the likely shade.

This would be foolish.

???

Care to explain why releasing a new color for the Wii would be foolish?

My guess is that i may come with the new controller cover they are offering. Nothing exciting.

It defintely wont be any sort of hardware revision.

I highly doubt they wil pull WiiSports out as that has been one of the biggest reasons for sucess of the console and many people are still looking to buy it based on the game. Almost all of their NA promotion has been a tie-in with that game.

I am thinking that if it is a holiday bundle it will be the regular package plus zapper/link's crossbow training. With WiiFit they could pile that in and we would have the same three types of packages that were offered in the NES days.

This is my wild guess on the future of the Wii
Wii + Wii Sports $250 now/ $200 in March = NES
Basic + Zapper/Link $279 now/ $249 in March = Light gun/Duck Hunt pack
Zapper pack + Second controller + WiiFit/Balance board $349 = Power pad pack

I read a rumor somewher that the price on the sku is $279. That would fit my zapper theory.

I don't think they will pack in other games, none of the big ones are cashed out on individul sales yet. Colors will be saved for later in the generation when they need a boost and can beat demand.

Everything old is new again. Sounds about right. Interesting speculation.

I am not going to go so far as to agree a new color would be foolish. But I don't think it is the right move for the right now. I have no doubt every Wii sent to stores between now and Dec 24 will be sold. Should they make any change to the console what so ever if it means getting one less systme out teh door? No.

Should they use these gaurenteed sales to increase profit/sell more games/ appeal to new demographics/ create attention etc. ? Yes

The Wii will be sold regardless of color. Color changes are usually done when they want to push more consoles out the door, but I don't think there is any need for that.

There is a need to sell more software, get zappers and balance boards installed, have news storeis written, take up more shelf space at stores, get more casuals to realize they need it. A new color only fills some of these goals. A new package deal would work on all of these.

Now personaly I still say they will change nothing, as I am confident that Nintendo plans on taking no chances with their golden goose and pushing out every single system they can, even if Reggie had to deliver them himself. Wii will remain the hot thing for about 6 more months and then I it's sellout days are over. (I am not calling it a fad I am just thinking that it will then be more like a regular console and sell based on it games, and less like a Tickle Me Ipod)

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

Since the current bundle is selling out anyway, I would guess this is a MORE expensive bundle (with extra software/hardware thrown in).

One possibility:
- $399 "Family Pack" Wii bundle
- Wii console + Wiimote + Nunchuck
- WiiSports
- WiiPlay + (2nd) Wiimote + Nunchuck
- MarioParty 8 + BBA games
- 3000 WiiPoints card

I would also love to see a Wii "gaming" pack:
- $349 "Gaming Pack" Wii bundle
- Wii console + Wiimote + Nunchuck
- WiiSports
- Metroid Prime 3
- SuperPaperMario
- 3000 WiiPoints card

...or something like that. Throwing Metroid into a Wii pack + upping the price would be a smart move. The units will sell anyway, and this artificially boosts the sales of Metroid.

Someone else touched on this, but they are copying what they did with NES. First it came out with two controllers and Super Mario Bros. Then, they kept it at the same price or like $20 more and added the gun and duckhunt, they version I got when I was 10.

Wii will be the same I bet, It will be $269 or so and have Wii Sports and Link's Crossbow game w/ the zapper. This way current owners aren't being screwed because the zapper by itself w/ link's crossbow game is $20, so it's all the same.

I doubt any color option yet. They are having too much trouble just keeping up with demand in white. Though a black model would be nice. I would have gotten that.

EDIT: Also could be some pack w/ Wii Sports and Wii Fit and Balance Board. Though that would be like $299.

We're in trouble if next year's E3 features a motion sensing stacking robot, or a sequal to the movie Click featuring the Wiimote.

Except that WiiFit isn't due out in the US until '08.

I do expect a new bundle when it hits though.

...

WiiZapper bundle may be possible - although I think it makes more sense for them to bundle in some games that aren't selling as well as they would have liked - namely BBA & Metroid.

I think WiiZapper will sell out on its own - unless they really can produce those shells for next to nothing. It would also help setup a solid install base for the WiiZapper itself?
