Forums - Sony - Main Character in Killzone 3

It's pretty much a no-brainer that Guerrilla will be making another Killzone game and while the second one was awesome, I felt it lacked a lot in the character department. They could have made Sev into a really cool character but instead, he hardly has no lines and is often considered a midget throughout most of the game. Who do you think should be the main character in Killzone 3? Should they bring Sev back or introduce a completely new character?

I personally think they should allow us to play through a bad ass character that is really appealing to gamers. Killzone is one of Sony's biggest franchises and not being able to associate a character with that game is disappointing. The enemies are cool, but come on, it's nice to idolize a good guy, not a bad guy. They should also focus on character devlopment in this game; if they are able to make a cool character then the story will be that much more compelling and the game would be even more fun. And please, this time don't give him an annoying sidekick like Rico!

I know a lot of people would also want to play as a Helghast and as cool as that sounds I don't think it's happening. At best, GG might release some sort of spin-off in DLC form but that's about it. Fighting the helghast is much more fun then playing as them; if you played as them, then you would have to constantly fight boring humans in dull grey uniforms.

So let's hear it Killzone fans, bring on the opinions!

I actually liked it the way it was...

Reminded me of Afro Samurai... so I didn't really mind Rico and liked that Sev didn't talk.

I also I felt there was more immersion because of the fact Sev didn't talk as much... it's been a while since I played it so I can't give you any examples. While I played it though, I actually felt that was one of the things I enjoyed about it.

Well... I'm not sure what future Sev and the other ISA characters have by the end of the game. Are they and the last few cruisers the only forces left or were there any more forces heading to Helghan?

Right, I was under the assumption that there wasn't going to be a third wave.

They need somebody memorable like Master Chief if they ever want Killzone to become a popular franchise that sells HALF as much as Halo. Ditch Sev and give us somebody with personality.

This man is spot on...KZ needs a memorable character in order to be a memorable franchise!

Hey COD series doesn't actually have memorable characters but still sold GAZILLION COPIES....tho having a memorable character with personality in KZ would be awsome.

Soap is more memorable than Sev. And Killzone isn't going to get CoD level sales by releasing in February

Unless he died in Liberation, I'll love to see Hakha become the main character, as they can make a more interesting story with him.

It'll even be cooler if the game follows flashbacks of his father (or mother, whichever was Helghast) that fleshes out the really cool backstory of the game. I really feel like it sucks that such a cool backstory that has so many parallels with WWII and allows you to sympathize with the Helghast wasn't told in the actual game.

I'll love to see the story start from his childhood, where his philosophy on war and race is shaped by his father and mother, and then the conflict that begins when he's forced to take Vekta's side, and earn the trust of the Helghast, and ultimately betray them. Although he isn't a racist like Rico, and believes that Earth and the Galactic government (lol, you can't really sound serious when you say "Galactic Government") are truly at fault, he ultimately decides to help one party over another. I hope to see the conflict within Hakha, and the question of "Why ISA? Why not Helghan?"

I'll love to see him, after he leaves Vekta to join the Helghasts, become horrified at the mess Helghan is and the suffering the people went through. To hear him speak to old Colonels and generals (IDK but I imagine them acting like drunk Russians, lol) speaking about the old civil wars and their bitterness against the ISA.

I'll love to see him witness and even order attrocities against the Vektans during the first war on Vekta (Killzone 1).

IDK what the story will be like in Killzone 3, but from there I hope that the game ultimately concludes that war is a Lose-Lose situation.
