The only thing I would ridiculed Jack Thompson for is that "total ban" stuff. But I get it, i f we don't take responsability (as a parent, gaurdian, seller, etc), we'll see the goverment taking over the gaming industry, because of our own inaquities...

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!
Jack Thompson is making more sense in his old age. At least, that's what I thought until he started ranting about how kids were going to go on a killing spree, confess it was due to playing violent video games, and ban violent games outright. That isn't happening. But at least I could tell his motives were decent at least.
People have been killing each other since the beginning of time. The Gladiators of Rome never played a video game and Hitler never played a video game. Video games are just a scapegoat.

At times, it is used as a scapegoat. However, the fact that a player actually participates in a violent event in a video game could possibly make it a bit more likely for someone to become violent. This wouldn't apply to most people, but I wouldn't throw it out as something that makes video games more provocative than a movie or comic book.
Violence comes naturally to humans, I think someone who plays videogames has a much better chance of NOT going on a killing spree. Everyone knows that guns and knives kill even without videogames it's just common sense, also people who have gone on a spree are usually mentally unstable people who would start running around with chainsaws even without violent games.

Yeah, if it was not video games it would have been something else that kicked started their aggression.
iv been playing violent video games all my life. never once did i think about going on a killing spree because of them. if someone shoots up a school or a mall or their family "because of video games", its actually because they were fucked up to begin with. not because of video games. now they may make your more aggresive but to resort to killing means you already had problems. and like Vashyo said, people are violent by nature. i know people who dont play video games but all they want to do is fight.
it seems video games are the new violent scapegoat. first it was comic books, then it was T.V., now its video games. im left to wonder whats next.
This movie is worse than anything in a video game....except Kratos pulling off that dudes head...that was pretty gross.
