Forums - Gaming - Sony - Our PS3 motion controller trumps Wii/Wii MotionPlus

Too little too late.

At the end of the day it's just another attempt for Sony to cash in on Nintendo's success.

Nintendo makes analog the standard for 3d games, Later Sony releases their own controller with analog sticks for the Playstation.

Nintendo invents the rumble pack, later Sony releases a controller with their own rumble.

Nintendo makes motion control the standard, Sony comes out with their own motion controller.

Notice a trend?

Yeah, Nintendo needs to stop making easily steal-able ideas.

Regardless of how good sony's controller turns out, it would never do well because they're late to the show. Ninty has captured the hearts of the motion lovers. Sony can only get scraps now.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

I thought the Wiimote could perceive depth.

It can.... even without WM+

In a way it isn't "real" depth as such, because you could turn 180 degrees and it would do the same thing (so the depth is not always toward the TV, but rather away from your body)

In actual gameplay terms there is no advantage of the Sony motion control over a remote with WM+ unless it is more accurate. And in fact, until I see it working I think it is at a disadvantage when it comes to pointer functions. (and it supposedly doesn't have a control stick, but I am sure Sony will add one to the final thing so that shouldn't be a problem)

more accurate? you mean 2:1 controls? i would definitely get it if so.

Wouldn't that be less accurate?

1:2 = the reticule goes where your hand goes but at half the speed

1:1 = the reticule goes where your hand goes

2:1 = the reticule goes where your hand is going to go

itll change the future...

I used depth on the Wii in the game Elebits in the year 2006, when I pushed my remote in towards the screen, and pulled it out, and both of these motions were happening onscreen as well. I definitely used depth to put food in the oven in the kitchen level. Welcome to the Wii launch Sony.
