It can.... even without WM+

In a way it isn't "real" depth as such, because you could turn 180 degrees and it would do the same thing (so the depth is not always toward the TV, but rather away from your body)

In actual gameplay terms there is no advantage of the Sony motion control over a remote with WM+ unless it is more accurate. And in fact, until I see it working I think it is at a disadvantage when it comes to pointer functions. (and it supposedly doesn't have a control stick, but I am sure Sony will add one to the final thing so that shouldn't be a problem)
