Argentina look good on the attack, but terrible at the back.

Up against a solid team i think they could struggle greatly.

Now, let's keep our fingers crossed that Heskey falls over and breaks his leg in the next hour!

Heskey just created that goal for Gerrard.

Heskey > Crouch

True.

Heskey actually was arguably our best player tonight.

Rooney - Shite.

Gerrard - Played well

Lampard - Meh

Defence - Meh

Green - On the plane home.

Johnson played quite well I thought.

Nobody blame the football for Green's appalling performance, please. Tim Howard did fine.

Lets just say this was one British spill that the American's won't be complaining about....

True. He did. But as for the rest of the defence. Don't get me started.

Rooney is WAY too overhyped. He simply can't play well for England. He's like Messi is to Argentina. Excellent for the club, but doesn't perform anywhere near as well for his country.

Thats the problem with England. Bringing their club performance to the national side.

Green has had no problem with the national/international switch it seems, he "only" conceded 66 goals in 38 games last season. I wanted Joe Hart in the team. But, I believe Green will get the "inexpiereinced only played 10 games card" thrown at him. So maybe putting someone who has played just 3 international games might not be the best solution

Looks like David James is set to be invovled in his 15th world cup lol

Portugal suffers from the same fate. We get into petty struggles about individual club performances and try to fit them into how the national team should play. In the end, we're left with an amalgam of different play styles and no real consensus on how they should play, as a team.

When the 23 players we're announced, no one cared if they were good or bad. They only cared if X amount of players from Y club was there, and if they weren't, then that automatically means that Portugal will fail in the WC.

It shouldn't matter so much for England bringing their club performance to internationals. Unlike other countries all our players play in the same league so it's not as if they have to adjust to different styles.

Yeah, that's quite an advantage. We have players from 6 different countries (even from the Greek league ) which vary massively in terms of playing styles, tactical approaches and technical expectations. It's difficult to give the same motivation to a player that plays for Real Madrid to other that plays for Iralkis
