Why haven't they made a console version of a Pokemon RPG? Modernize it, mature it up a bit, release it on Nintendo Wii and have another huge game! No more of these crappy retelling of the same story on handhelds. Get me a console version with a more mature appeal (17-30 yr olds) and I'd be all over that.

That's a horrible idea. Imagine if a kid got it? Also no console version

I like to think of SMT: Nocturne as a mature Pokemon.  Tough as nails too.

I don't mess with the Pokémens, to be honest with you. It's kind of an amateur game.

Hey, LaBoeuf, get off mah board!

Anyway, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company aren't Japanese.  They're owned by Nintendo, but so is Retro Studios.  The only Japanese-made Pokemon... thing... is the show.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

The definition of role playing games is undergoing an evolution at the moment. The reality is that so many games incorporate its facets that were not specifically designed as role playing games. Thus the definition has seemingly incorporated bulk. You need to have a certain amount of the common elements, specifically a high degree of leveling depth, and a higher degree of complexity.

Pokemon might meet the letter of the definition, but the definition is crude, and thus the definition is being refined and subdivided. Most gamers do not feel that Pokemon qualifies as a role playing game, and to be honest if adventure games are now having a more complex leveling aspect then Pokemon. Then Pokemon cannot possibly be a role playing game.

The same thing happened with Zelda it took a number of years before it became widely accepted that it was not a role playing game. Far too much action for far too little character building. The series needs its own genre, because it is too different now. Rock, Paper, Scissors, and three levels. Well it just doesn't have the depth to qualify. You need to find or create a new genre to place it in.

I do not consider it a role playing game. That is just insulting in my opinion.

Eh what????? Have you ever played pokemon (extensively)???? Because pokemon is very complex.

Pokemon is also one of the few RPGs where your party grows in ability based not just on fighting itself but also one what you fight.

Yeah I was really baffled reading his post, one of the most complex rpg's ever (maybe the most).

Pokemon is a monster hunter game I've never really considered Pokemon games JRPG's.
