Forums - Microsoft - Crackdown broke even

That suprising, saying that im going to pick up a used copy soon, only 8 pounds and it looks quite fun.

I can believe that.

Remember very few devs make a profit, most are reliant on outside investment for funding new games.

Soooo. He says the game sold 1,5M copies new, and believe that including games that were sold as used, total sales would be 2,5M or 3M?? Does he actually believe that out of those 1,5M new copies sold, "each one" of them were at least traded in and sold as used one time, making it 3M sold copies in total? Is he crazy? Or is that actually how popular the used games market is? I do not believe that out of the 1,5M copies of Crackdown sold, 1M or 1,5M of them were traded in or sold used. Of course some games could have been traded in multiple times, but that's how it is for ALL GAMES.. He is FULL of bullshit. And if he's not, it just proves what kind of quality game Crackdown is. If so many copies were traded in and sold used for cheap money (actually half of the total amount he expects it to have sold) it must be a crap game, and I don't believe it is...

^^They actually have data to back up claims. Each time someone logs onto Live with playing Crackdown, they will keep track. So all they have to do is have a formula for the amount of people who do not connect to Live when they play. He is saying that they know 3 million unique users have played the game. He knows the sales for the game, so now he knows how many copies were either bought used or rented.

I call bull on not making any profit on a game that sold 1.5 million copies

I wouldn't be surprised if they had to give an additional % for the beta key. I mean, that key guaranteed tons of extra sales, I doubt they just chose a game at random to include it with.

can you imagine how much games like lair and hevenly sword lost???????

ps3 games have even higher production costs!!

LBP cost $10M.....

Wow, I'm surprised they didn't make a profit. How much did this game cost?

Secondly, I've noticed it alot when developers talk up a game based on platform "With the PS3, with the Xbox 360, with the whatever, it was possible to do this, that, and the other" everyone just replies with "I don't believe them" and a lot of the time "they are stupid"....

Why are you doubting the words of the developer when it comes to how much money is made? Maybe the technicalities of game development can be up for discussion, but cold, hard, cash cannot be

Blaming the used games market is pathetic.

No, it is not! Everyone in this thread has either bought it used or borrowed it from a friend ()
