Forums - Sales - Battlefield 143 Coral Sea challenge sales implications

You can see how many kills have been registered on each platform at the Coral Sea challenge part of the Battlefield 1943 website, here: http://www.battlefield1943.com/

Currently the 360 leads with over 39 million kills versus ~20.7 million on PS3. Once each platform gets to 43 million kills they get a new map.

The ratio last I checked was around 1.9-1 in favor of 360, and has even been growing slightly in 360's favor (it was around 1.8-1 a couple days ago).

Obviously this is extremely unproffesional, but still a interesting pseudo-data point I feel.

If this was a USA data, it would be inline with the install base, however being worldwide data, where the 360 has a lesser install base lead (perhaps 3:2) I feel it's quite impressive for 360. Although one could also surmise military shooter fans are biased to 360.

More shooter fans on the 360 dude, and the PS3 doesn't have much support from its Japanese usebase either... or so I assume. If I were Japanese I'd get it.

We knew X360 is shooter console for years already :)

Plus you are comparing 30M of X360 vs 19 M of PS3 (excluding Japan sales)
And iirc online download games are released on wednsday versus thursday on PSN.

It's because PS3 owners have a life

Ah Coral Sea, so many awesome memories. The carrier exploit is still fondly remembered (hated actually.)

What is more fun though is that on Coral Sea it pays a lot more to be a sniper. When playing Japanese there is a point on one of the islands which makes a sniper nearly invisible and give him a good spot to attack 3 out of the 4 AA guns on the US aircraft carrier

Oh, wow. They should have Coral Sea unlocked by the time I get home from work.

Why do people make such comments (multiple times already in this thread) when I already addressed every one of these issues in the original post?

Do people not read, or just like to repeat things over and over?

Please, dont reply if you are going to restate what is already in the OP.

BTw, 30:19 is less than 1.9:1.

Also, the kill count was reset when the contest began, which was after Thursday. Both consoles started at the same time from zero.

Actually I suspect PS3 owners are probably playing the game much more than they normally would trying to win this contest, as Ps3 fanboys are quiet obsessed with fanboy wars. Any visit to youtube or pretty much any message board will prove that. As well as how PS3 fanboys maniuplate gametrailers rankings (anytime a 360 exclusive wins any award,  that video is rated very low, but the reverse is not true when PS3 exclusives win) etc.

Everybody I know agrees with me about that.

So it's possible the "real" ratio would be even higher in 360's favor.

That's not surprising.
