Orioto does amazing work.

They have another guy on gaf called m0dus that works on some kickin' ps3 themes:

I just had a look at the rest of the wallpapers, it really makes me want to see more 2D on the HD systems, present or future. We seen sparingly few 2D games in the last few years, just imagine what they could do with the hardware now and with the benefit of extra detail that HD allows. I'm not a Sonic fan but even i would love to see a Sonic game look like those pics.
