Forums - Nintendo - A rather crazy Zelda timeline

In Majoras mask, didn't it say something about how when the three godesses made Hyrule, their creation slipped through a gap or something, and they created many alternate versions of Hyrule(like Termina)?

Well, it's an interesting theory. They all fit.

But let's take a look at the name of these games, "Legend of Zelda". It's a legend. Maybe some of the games are about the same happening but told through different people? Maybe LttP, OoT and TP are the same but the "bards" (XD) sang different versions of it. That would also explain why the location of Death Mountain, Lake Hylia etc differs from game to game.

Actually, there's a map someone made that shows it's all the same huge landscape from different angles... Well, excluding Twilight Princess Wii, which was reversed. Also, Zelda II: The adventure of link, was not called a legend like the other games. :P

links awakening is stated by nintendo to be a sequel to a link to the past. TP is stated to happen many year(hundreds) after OOT so that link can't be anyones father.

Yeah, I'll go with 'Nintendo make it up as they go along'. Aside from a few pairings of games here and there (OoT/MM or WW/PH etc) the entire idea of a proper timeline is a crock.

There is proper timeline. We know that Ocarina of time Link is the first link, and we know OOT is a prequel to Link to the Past. Also, Lttp was a prequel to Zelda I and II on NES. Twilight princess also seems to have taken place shortly after Ocarina of time. The rest, I have no clue. I doubt all the weird gameboy zeldas have a proper place in the main timeline.

Assuming the next game explains the origin of the Master Sword, not for long

True... But OOT Link is the first Link to fight Ganondorf, right? Hmm... But I don't know how old Ganondorf was at the time of OOT...

He did his research. He must be right?

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

According to Game Trailers The Minish Cap is first because it deals with The Legend of Gustave, then Ocarina of Time which causes two timelines.

That's interesting. And why have I never noticed that Zelda II doesn't have Legend of Zelda in the title? I've had that game for years...

These are always interesting, but I don't think a timeline is important for this series.

I even thought this theory was pretty good, but then the guy had to be a jackass in the response video he made after getting a form letter from Nintendo. At the end of the response video he even has the gall to ask people to sign the petition to "Save Zelda." Zelda does not need saving.

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

pretty good timeline. though i dont think its anywhere close to what Miyamoto had in mind.

then he went and made an ass of himself in the video response.

Somehow I fail to see any timeline between all the games, the more zelda games nintendo releases the more confusing the timeline becomes. :/

Nintendo doesn't seem to really think out the storyline that far ahead and the games allways have simple story. That's why I consider all zelda games to be an alternate versions of link's story.
