Religion does motivate people to tell others to change their behavior. Preventing people from doing this is government suppression of religion

I haven't said anything else, so hasn't Sotomayor as it seems. The only problem here is, that while you seem to claim, that homosexuality is simply a "behaviour", homosexuals and others (including me) would claim that is not a behaviour, but a legitimate part of human sexuality.

I know some gays and believe me, it's defininitly not the easiest way to choose from if you want to have your coming out.

Free speech is not speech free of civic responsibility. You are free to express your views in a civil manner. That does not cause undue harm to others. Nor should you be wishing to cause harm to others. You are not permitted to run into a crowded building screaming fire.

What if you think there is a fire?

From the perspective of the person who put up the billboard, it's not hate speech. He truly believes if you're a man who sleeps with another man, your going to hell, and out of compassion for your eternity, he is trying to inform as many people as possible of the pending danger.

I am an atheist who is all for gay rights, and I still think this ruling is wrong.

what ruling was that?

She was following Supreme Court precedent. Bushey was the law of the land when her circuit court decided Ricci, and circuit court judges can't override that.

Luke 6:37: “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;"

I thought that verse was fitting for this subject matter.

I suppose, but this isn't condemning anyone.

It just saying that some people think it's a sin and that it shouldn't happen. I wouldn't be condemning you if I told you Lying or stealing is a sin.

@ axum

I agree. The owner should have paid attention to what was being put up on the billboard if he didn't like it.

Not to mention this thread isn't about War of the Verses even if the billboard was condemning someone.

Those last twp sentences are pulling in different directions. Lying and stealing are widely, if not universally, considered sins or wrongs. There is no such consensus on homosexuality, and as such no comparison.

Well, we know what the Bible says on the matter, so it's hyprocritical for people to think lying or cheating is a sin, but not homosexuality.

I will say that I'm using the word sin to identify it only with Christians. I would have used wrong or immoral for athesits/agnostics/etc. I'm not sure what every other religion believes on homosexuality so I'm not going to group anyone else.
