| JUG said: The media and certain segments of the gaming community will have you believe that either there are people like you, or there are the people who have never really played games before buying the Wii and that these are the ones propelling the sales of these 'tech demos'. In reality there are a lot more people like me - people who want a new Pikmin, Donkey Kong and Starfox. People who love playing Smash and Mario Galaxy, but who ALSO own wii fit, got addicted to 'tanks' in Wii Play, think that Nintendo can do just fine balancing both the so-called casual and hardcore markets, and who are really excited about Wii Sports Resort! I have pre-ordered my copy and I think it will be a great game. |
I'm with this guy. I enjoy the casual stuff alongside the core offerings. Sure, I wish Nintendo would speed up with Zelda, and use a non-Mario core franchise sometime soon, but they have recently revived Punch Out. They're doing a much better job at appealing to a wide market than people would like to admit, I think.
Also, as for quality third party offering-please don't say The Conduit is that. Yes, it's technically impressive in terms of graphics and brilliant controls, but it's artistically poor-the game design, art design and story is well below par. And yes, I have played it, and was very much underwhelmed. Quality third party offerings that deserve to do better are things like No More Heroes, Little King's Story and Okami. It's comforting that NMH has done well enough for a sequel.
One final thought. Are there many people who seriously think that the Wii Series has a negative effect on the quality of the Mario Galaxy games, or will be detrimental to the quality of the next Zelda game?
