Forums - Nintendo - Soulbazer - why no remakes?

Looking at all the Squeenix rehashes, it seems the weight lies squarely on Square games. Lately a bit of Enix has come through with those DQ remakes. But...

...what happened to the good Enix games, especially the Soulblazer Triology? I absolutely adored Illusion of Time/Gaia and almost as much Terranigma when they released. I would even put them up there with the Secret of Mana/ Chrono Trigger duo for pure old school gaming enjoyment.

Do they not own the rights? No interest?

I had so much fun with those games. Since i think remakes are pointless i don't want them remade, but absolutley need all three to be released on Virtual Console.

Those games don't need any remakes. SE would surely mess up one way or the other.
But put in on VC, those games deserves it. Terranigma is actually one of the best games I've ever played.

Honestly it's because its called Soulblazer and Final Fantasy or Dragon's Quest. Square Enix seems to have forgotten about any IP that isn't based on FF or DQ. It's a shame because they own games like Soulblazer, Actraiser, Chrono Trigger, Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, etc. etc. I hated when Square Enix bought up several smaller JRPG devs. I figured this would happen and unfortunately I was right.

It's possible that they don't want to make it without the original staff. After all Granstream Saga, which is pretty much the 4th game in the series, had no involvement with Enix so its possible that they lost interest in it or there was a disagreement somewhere.

That and I don't think Quintet's been up to much lately.

I suggest you expect games like these from other developers and not Square Enix. SE is just a shadow of what it was

Chrono Trigger kind of got a rerelease.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Chrono Trigger is from Square also.

With remake I meant also I would love them to put the games on VC. I just want to play them again.

@Darc Requiem: Arent Actraiser and Ogre Battle on VC already?

Funny, I just played Soulblazer on my SNES emulator yesterday and this thread pops up xD I'm on Leo's Lab, just before the Giant Robot boss. The game is really great, and it was such a good beginning to a great saga with soulblazer/illusion of time/terranigma.

The thing is SE will never re-release this game, it isn't that well know even for the people of the SNES generation, and they know that it wouldn't be profitable for them, and that's what SE has become this past years, just a money-caring company.
