Forums - Nintendo - Metroid: Zero Mission looks Spectacular on Gameboy Player.

In anticipation of Metroid:  Other M on the Wii, I have been playing through the other Metroid games starting with Metroid:  Zero Mission the Gameboy Advance remake of the original Nintendo Entertainment System Metroid.

Up until today, I have been playing Metroid Zero Mission on my GBA, however, I decided to try it out on my seldom used Gameboy Player.  And I was shocked out how well it plays.  I had heard that GBA games simply don't play that well on Gameboy Player especially in comparison to how they play on an actual GBA.  That the Gameboy Player washes out the GBA games colors and that they simply don't control as well with the Gamecube controller as they do with an actual GBA.  And after trying out Golden Sun and Zelda:  The Minish Cap on my Gameboy Player I was ready to agree with those statements.   However, Metroid: Zero Mission on Gameboy Player looks as good or almost as good (and I think the backgrounds are better) than I remember Super Metroid looking on my SNES back in the nineties.  And as far as the play control goes, the only thing I would change from the initial control setup is I would make the Gamecube controller's big green A button into the shoot button and the smaller B button into the jump button.  And I love how the Gamecube controller's left and right shoulder buttons actually seem to make the diagonal firing and the firing of missles even easier than on an actual GBA.

I think that for Metroid: Zero Mission to perform so well on Gameboy Player, that its developers really must have had the Gamecube's attachment very much in mind when they were designing Metroid:  Zero Mission.

I wonder what other GBA games play so well on the Gamecube's Gameboy Player.

Wow, the Gameboy Player. Forgot about that thing! I miss my GameCube/GB Player combo.

I'd buy a Game boy Player if my Gamecube still worked.

Play Yoshi's Island on GB player!!!!

I finally found a copy of Fusion on Thursday. Thanks for posting this thread. It was that last kick in the pants I needed to send in my DS and get the R button fixed so I can play my GBA Metroids.

Off Topic: Does anybody know if there is a good version of Capcom's Strider for Gameboy Advance?

That's the reason I have my GCN hooked up still. GB/A games on television? Hells yeah!

I wish they could put DS games on television.
