I just had a thought.

Maybe he was being sarcastic? I just can't believe that "story-driven Gears of War" comment was real.

Yeah, now that I've reread the whole thing, this has 'leave Britney Spears alone!' written all over it, can't tell if he is really that much of a dumbass or just poking fun at people...

I just did an experiment I grabbed my PS3 controller and both of my thumbs naturally landed on the analog sticks. I grabbed my 360 controller and 1 thumb landed on the right analog stick and the other on that terrible D-Pad. So how is a 360 controller more natural to use the 2 analog sticks on? I'm not knocking either controller since to me they are basically the same. I prefer PS3 analog sticks and i prefer 360 triggers. so they are pretty equal to me when it comes to comfort and playability. but when people say the playstation controller is so outdated and doesnt feel natural in your hands is just insanity.

That's just funny. There's no other way to describe what you just said.

This is to be said within the context that we are talking about influential, significant, market moving franchises–eg. Gears of War 2, Call of Duty, GTA 4, Halo 3 for crying out loud! Have you tried playing any of the previously mentioned multi-platformed titles on the PS3 with that awkward, unintuitive Sony controller? It simply cannot compete. The 360 controller’s design is sleeker, more form fitting, and lends itself to a much more instinctual gaming experience. That Sony controller has been around for how many years now? It’s time to update, reinvent, and innovate, and that’s exactly how Microsoft has managed to stay ahead of the curve. I had posted a forum about this very topic and got reported for inciting a flamewar as they call it. Before the forum could evolve into a discussion it was taken down, but I did receive a very constructive critique about my thoughts from a fellow GT member who claimed that the PS3’s D-pad was superior to the 360’s, especially in fighter games, to which I give him credit and agreement. However, this goes without noting that I was focusing on major blockbuster titles like the Halos and the Gears and the Call of Duty’s; titles that move consoles and market share. Sony not only needs to update its controller, but it also needs to incorporate it with an enjoyable, story-driven exclusive franchise to rival the mind-blowing Microsoft heavyweights Gears of War and Halo franchises. Do this, and you shall live. Do it not, and every one of you will die today.

All of the coloured parts, particularly the yellow, make me think he's joking.

Stuff coloured the same is related.

I do prefer my 360 controller over my PS3 (99% of the time). It is more comfortable and fits better in my hands (IMO). That is an opinion however. Perhaps those with smaller hands prefer the PS3.....I cant speak intelligently on there behalf. I would love to have the d-pad off of my PS3 controller on my 360 one though.

The comments regarding higher reviews because of the controller. Didnt the exact same thing happen with Street Fighter 4 reviews? Because the controllers are such an important part in the fighting franchise (especially the d-pad) it would make sense that reviews could/should be taken into consideration (depending on the game).

I have SFIV on my 360 only because my Live friends way outnumber my PSN friends. Otherwise, the d-pad might have been a deal breaker for me.

sorry i cant really beleive the guy is stooping down that low

I did an experiment too. I picked up my Xbox 360 controller and then I started playing a game. Never did get around to the PS3 controller test, though I suspect the same thing might happen too.

Poor experimental technique - you only did it once. Repeat this until you can be sure it wasn't a statistical anomaly :P

I tried it again, a few minutes ago. It wasn't until the dying spastic sounds of my terminally ill Xbox 360 controllers rumble motors jerked me out of the gaming trance that I was able to return here to post my followup. Yep same as before...

Oh yes Sony needs to match the story telling prowess represented in Gears of War and Halo 3 and stop having story-less exclusives like Uncharted and Valkyria Chronicles.

And MGS4! How could you forget MGS4? The story was pretty much non-existent. Were there any cutscenes in that game?

Believe me MGS4 was the first game that came into my head when I thought of a PS3 exclusive with story. The only reason I didn't list it was because some consider the MGS4 storyline to be feeble. I personally love it.
