Forums - Gaming - Is Microsoft’s Natal a threat to Nintendo’s Wii?

No

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Third parties know that it’s their job to drive hardware sales

...the Nintendo console was launched and third parties still aren’t embracing it, despite it being the fastest selling home console in gaming history.

Wait! So... How is that... What? I mean... If it is... you know... what you said, err... how does that... make any sense???

Ignore the thread. It was probably written by Microsoft's marketing team.

Let it die and let fail viral marketer fail! (this will be the last comment from me unless I see something really stupid)

I LOVE ICELAND!

I'm starting to like this guy, actually. Pretty sure this is satire, and its damn good satire if so.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Has to be. The "Mario Bros. copied LBP" thing wasn't exactly subtle.

Nope it's not a threat.... but a developer's nightmare in terms of testing

^I agree. Its taken 3 yrs to get where Wii is and most devs still have no friggin idea what subtlety means.
Working with nothing, and ensuring that immeasurable numbers of moves and lighting and body type, can be "programmed".

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

No.
unless they get Avatar Fit
or something.

Not really. I don't think anybody would spend $200 on that game and for those who don't have a 360 spend an extra 200 bucks. Thats like buy a PS3 console all together. This isn't a threat because the Wii comes with Wii Sports which is the #1 motion control game out there. I think Natal will be a success but not a threat to the Nintendo Wii.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Do you see how much trouble 3rd parties are having making Wii games with one form of motion control? Think about it.

To you answer your question, Natal is not a threat to the Nintendo Wii. It is an even bigger NO if it stays $200.......
