The Metroid Prime Trilogy is a superb value, especially @ 49.99 USD. Pokemon Platinum is also a great value... can't you just get both?

EDIT:  Get Metroid Prime Trilogy.  It's just too great of a value, especially to newcomers.

like i said i can't get both because if i do then i can't get any other game until christmas because i can't spend too much money and i would have gotten both but i am also waiting for NSMBWii in November so yeah but then in the holidays here in canad there is this thing called boxing day where everything is cheap so in that i can usually get around $10-$20 dollars off so in that case if i got that type of a deal ($10 or $20 off) on Platinum then i will get that too but for now i am going to with what u said and get metroid prime trilogy and then NSMBWii and then if there is the deal on Platinum i will pick that up too!!!thanks for the tip.....

can u or other people tell me what metroid is like besides that it is a great game because nintendo made it because i already that reason (lol) and that it is a shooter....lol

anyway thanks again for the tip smokedhostage

Metroid is a series of platforming adventure games.  They're held in high regard because of their non-linear(Well Metroid-Super Metroid are non-linear games)gameplay, emphasis on exploration, immersive artstyles and music, and item collection.

well firstly what is non-linear mean in videogames and secondly i was looking for more like is it worth it andwhat the gameplay is like and how it compares to others shooters like halo or bioshock or conduit??? and metroid is first-person shooter right??

its first person allright, but its not a shooter, its more of an adventure, more jumping around, readings lore, solving puzzles, the closest you get to shooter is prime 3 but it still remains exploration intensive.

I was going to post pretty much the same thing. The perspective the game is in is First Person. It's genre is Action-Adventure. Shooters are a sub-category of the action genre which isn't the same thing as an Action Adventure. The core gameplay is puzzles and boss fights. Enemies are used more as obstacles in the puzzles rather than the core of the game like they would be in an FPS. It also has many platforming aspects, though this isn't as pronounced as the 2d games. Out of the three games you mentioned I would say that it is the closest to bioshock gameplay-wise, but with a good amount more adventuring aspects. The label "futuristic zelda" is a really good description on the gameplay.

Platinum because it's underrated in this thread

Here's an IGN review. It's only for Prime 2 (which I personally find to be the least fantastic of the series) but it still gives a good overview of the gameplay elements of the series.

Prime 3 is the weakest metroid. No doubt about it. Still all great 90%+ games, so who cares.

I'd say prime trilogy for sure, pokemon is the same thing over again. If you played pokemon gold then you played pokemon platinum.

thanks for the info thats what i was looking for

Non-linear means there are several paths to a goal as opposed to one single solution, and it's a shooter in the sense that it's from a first person perspetive and you shoot things but the main focus is on exploration and puzzles as opposed to the shooting (but you do a lot of that as well). I would compare it to Bioshock in the sense that they both have a lot of focus and puzzles and such, but where as Bioshock is divided into levels, Metroid is one big world in which you travel back and forth across as you aquire new wepons and abilities.

thanks now i am pretty sure that iwill get metroid and i do love strategy and exploring games while shooting lol
