although FAIL is to strong a word, itll sell great overall but like you say, sequels on wii dont fare to well.

Also, don't forget that the Miis STILL don't have hands and feet.  I mean I could put up with that crap back in 2007 but this is 2009!

1.  Sequels don't sell on the Wii.  For example:

Rock Band: 1.32 mil, Rock Band 2: .61 mil

Boom Blox: .95 mil, Boom Blox: Bash Party: .08 mil

Pro Evolution Soccer '08:  .97 mil, Pro Evolution Soccer '09: .21 mil

Trauma Center: Second Opinion:  .57 mil, Trauma Center: New Blood .19 mil

Excite Truck: .89 mil, ExciteBots .05 mil

Super Mario Galaxy 8.02 mil, Super Mario Galaxy 2 0.00 mil

The reason for this is obvious...

Even Reggie admits that a new market is immerging...

2.  From the ashes of the old Blue Ocean a new Red Ocean has formed...

So what does this mean?  Well its obvious. Casual gamers are becoming more hardcore.  Red Ocean means exactly what it sounds like it means.  Casual gamers are no longer satisfied with simple gameplay and graphics.  The soccer moms are now out for blood!

So why didn't MadWold sell you ask?  Well it's quite simple really.  Sega peaked too early.  They were just ahead of their time.  You see, Casuals didn't know what they would transform into until Reggie first mentioned the concept of Red Ocean.  But from that point on, there is no turning back.  I fully expect for this tranformed demgraphic to sweep in at any moment and make Atlus and NIS titles the top selling of this gen.

3.  Graphics

The transition of casual gamers to hardcore is happening at such a rapid pace that their insatiable appetitie for higher and higher resolutions is spinning out of control.  They are no longer satisfied with the sweet goodness of Ninjabreadman, now OMG only graphix that look better than Uncharted 2 will do.

4.  Wii MotionPlus

When casual players originally chose to support the Wii, they bought into all of the ads.  The Wii Remote would undoubtedly let you experience games like never before without all the complicated and confusing buttons.  But over time casual gamers eventually realized that in most Wii games waggling the Wii Remote was only a less accurate replacement for pressing a button.  So why is Wii MotionPlus listed as a reason why Wii Sports Resort will fail?  Well as seen in my previous point, casual gamers have made the transition to hardcore or the bloody bloody red ocean.  They no longer are intimidated by deep gameplay and lots of buttons.  They don't want Wii Sports Resort anymore.  Now they want Knights in the Nightmare.

They just didn't know it until Reggie told them.

I don't consider there being a Red Ocean now due to the fact that the 'motion controls' from the competitors are just add-ons and nothing more. The Wii has already set ground in the market and the competitors are trying to 'catch up' to Nintendo. They (Microsoft and Sony) may pose no threat at all. I just see that Natal and the PS3 didlo wand are cheap cash-ins on the market.

MadWorld did not sell because it was directed a people who wanted action, but those people may have not been interested in the game. Plus it did not appeal to the mass market (wasn't something that 'general audiences' would play).

Gameplay =/= graphics anymore. I was VERY snoody when I was younger because I bashed my friends saying how shitty PSOne graphics were compared to the N64 and that the PSOne had no games I was interested in (Nintendo had games I grew up with), because Sony was trying to find its identity in the market; and they are STILL trying to find their identity in the market (no mascots known by all age groups, sorry, but Sackballboy isn't known where I live or work since I work at a daycare and those children don't own PS3s; plus the system isn't allowed to be brought into the daycare I work at unless you show Blu-Ray movies), while Microsoft has a foothold in nearly every market. I wouldn't buy an HD console unless it had the software I want on it and the system(s) was/were under $200.

Nice try... but I have to say Rol is still king!!!!

I game.  You game.  We game.

I'm a videogamer, not a fanboy, but have a special place for Nintendo.

Current Systems Owned: NSwitch/PS4/XONE/WiiU/3DS/2DS/PCGaming Rig-i7/ASUS i7 Gaming Laptop.

Previous Game Consoles:  PS3/Xbox360/Wii/DSL/Pretty much every one thats been released since the Atari 2600.

Why did you compared Mario Galaxy 1 with Mario galaxy 2 when Mario galaxy 2 is not even launched yet???

According to my links, it hasn't sold more...

Lol.  Funny and true.

What about all the soccer moms though?  Are they becoming hardcore too?

Have you ever tried tried to get past one of them at Walmart when they are focused on their shopping?  If soccer mom's decided they wanted to be good at FPS they would make Fata1ty look like a noob.

Ooh good point!  So I guess this means that the guy who made this thread will be happy as the PSP will start outselling the DS.  The PS3 will also outsell the Wii.  The failure of WSR means Nintendo is doomed.

Well Nintendo still has an ace in the hole.  That sex toy errr "vitality sensor" is pretty hardcore.  Soccer mom's will always secretly be freaks in the bedroom and if Nintendo can tap into shall we call it the "wet ocean" market?  They should be able to fend off Sony for the rest of this gen.

Don't get me wrong.  Sony knows what is up and as seen at E3 are already planning their response with the "Wand".  I think it will take them too long to get it out and it will be too little too late though...

The "Wand" you speak of isn't a motion controller. It does not have any gyroscopes or accelerometers to be a TRUE motion controller; it is a motion-TRACKING add-on for an existing add-on, so that is instant FAIL.

@Naraku

You wouldn't pay $250 for Natal?

ALOT of people might hold out on Wii Sports resort for that. That kid was just so damn cute.

First of all, Super Mario Galaxy 2 isn't even out yet. Second of all, you haven't shown a first party Wii gimmick game that has sold less that its predecessor (Excite bots....isn't Excite truck). Wii Sports Resort may not sell as much as its predecessor, but it will sell like a bleeding MF'er. The majority of the people who own the Wii, want games like that. Last of all......it's not Wii Music. Case closed.

I dunno mac, I'm sure a lot of people are going to feel like peeedophiles when they play with Milo. Insta-fail.

jk if you don't get the reference.

Most of the games the OO mentioned aren't even big franchises on the Wii. Wii Sports Resort will sell pretty well but not as much if it was bundled.

What do you mean?  The Excite series was huge.  I play it all the time.

it exitbots even out in europe? I know it isn't here yet?

but in all honesty most sequels sell worsts. There is only a few games that brake this trend so not realy unexpectedalso if your thoery was some what true and they moving onto hardcore games why hasnt conduit sold millions already?

PES09 is a bad example as it come out 6months after the football season on wii lol
