As for the swords, its only logical, considering one of them is the hero of a pretty standard adventure tale, and the other was written and designed like a stereotypical shonen manga protagonist. Of course his sword is bigger.
And people who consider Cloud's character to be deep, should not forget to mention " by videogame standards". Its really important!

Its funny, beause I think FF7 was the beginning of the downfall of the FF series. Its never been as good as it was in FF6 (FF3 US). Square ruined the entire series with 7.
