because it was rigged. say 100,000 people visit their boards.. about 10k would go vote, while GT5 did not get the publicity of the site given to their fans, neither did they get "special treatment" from the devs to do so.

"Vote for us and you get this shiny free car!" = Bribery |
"Hey guys come vote for us, then log back in and tell us you voted, and we will give you a digital car for our dated Forza 2 videogame!" = the same thing as "Hey guys come vote for us at 'insert link'!"
Not to mention if they really wanted the car they just have to log in and say they voted since Turn 10 had no way of actually confirming that. So in reality the only affect it would have is to spur traffic of Forza 2 players to get a free car for doing nothing and anyone else would just vote for Forza regardless of any incentives.
Oh and the total votes for each was only like 6k if I remember right. Either 6k/5.6k or 16k/15.6k.
I'm sure GT forums also had messages to go vote for GT5.
Someone put a message up for like... 5minutes.
Then the mods took it down.
Forza lost with bribes, and next to no publicity on the GT forums.

Its a toughy....
Forza is purported to use an exceptionally high physics sample rate meaning the cars behave hyper realstically.
GT series is generally better looking.

Fixed. Already explained how it wasn't a bribe.
You know what else? I searched just one GT Forum (gtplanet) and got tons of results about the Cnet poll. So obviously their forums (which are likely much larger than Forza's) also got lots of publicity.

It's not a racing sim. It is fun tho...

But it says racing game not racing sim in the title and your original post never mentioned "racing sim" either. I don't see why MK Wii can't be definitive racing game of this gen.
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

because mario kart wii has major flaws. The game plays itself, the winner appears to be randomly generated, the controls are wonky, WM+ might fix this, the tracks are dull, the variation is unimaginative and it does nothing to be a definitive racing game. It is the Definitive party racing game though. However, Mod Nation Racers seems to of done everything mario kart wii did, better, and with more content..
why must this be entered again? get over the poll
secondly, definitive is not really a case for this, it is a simple case of opinion as there is no large board of all forms of racing ready to decide which will be their official choice.

Thank you, finally somebody who gets this.
