Really like to know what import fees and cost to produce are. For all we know, the extra money @ retail for a European game costs more due to VAT and import fees.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Don't be silly. You guys have taxes included in the price. America adds taxes on top. So add another 10 bucks to that...

Releases now cost 70$ Canadian, it's ridiculous.

a $60 in America is the same as a 46.6 Euro game in Europe, and a 6084 yen game in Japan. So looking at that, how do you claim that profit is least in America? You know nothing about what it costs to make a game, and are soley basing this off of the consumer price tag in various regions. For all you know developers make the same exact amount of profit/game in every region. The prices above do not reveal to you how much it cost to translate the game into 6 different languages for the PAL release, nor the various packaging and multiple ratings they have to go through.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

If I had to take a guess, I'd say that the majority of games are developed in the west. That means that translating the games for European and Japanese audiences costs extra money, as well as regional advertising. Combine that with the fact that the Americas have the highest software sales and best attach rates, and I'd say that developers aren't complaining.

^ Most of nintendo's games are from Japan and they also cost as much as other 3rd party games made in America. I don't think the import costs are that high or anything to really make a difference.
Wii is also 250 euros here which is a lot more expensive then $250... But meh the average West Europeans are probably richer then the Americans anyway.

I thought it was a well known fact that $1=€1 in the gaming industry... Sadly enough...
