Forums - Microsoft - EVERY GAME is coming to XBLA

I just googled a bit around and Cloudberry Kingdom actually isn't coming for XBLA since its an XNA indie game.

Well, at least it won't come for XBLA if it doesn't win the dream-build-play challenge 2009.

Have you checked out some of the indie games that got submitted to the challenge?

Some of those are really looking great! It's hard to believe they were build with XNA. They look much better than the 1st and 2nd generation of games on XBLA!

Madballs Updated: The arena shooter now supports premium Avatar accessories.

Madballs in Babo: Invasion has been updated to coincide with the Xbox Live refresh that was released earlier this week. Among other new features, your Avatars now have the ability to wear and hold premium items such as light sabers or Quicksilver clothing. Madballs includes an Avatar Attack mode that lets you insert your Avatar's head into the game (just the head), and now your premium gear will show up in-game.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!1 press release:

Ska Studios LLC today announced a truly epic title in the true tradition of epicness with its latest video game entertainment product release, I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1, set for release August 16, 2009 on the Xbox Live Indie Games for 80 Microsoft Points.

Presenting a familiarly themed, engrossing and stylized “game universe,” then adding zombies to that world, I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!1 aims to completely revolutionize the videogames industry, destroy it in fire a thousand times, and resurrect it as a phoenix sitting on a unicorn atop a shiny city of golden gumdrops. As we say at Ska Studios LLC, “our games will pique your interest and defenestrate your cats.”

I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!1 represents a culmination of years of intensive psychological research, bleeding edge engineering, and artistic collaboration by over two dozen internationally recognized art houses that may or may not exist, using such technologies as the HYPERMAGIC 3.0 engine to power never-before-seen eye candy and the MEGACORE X parallelization processor for smooth-as-glass presentation.

“You can make a game,” said Ska Studios Lead Engineer Gato Maria Hernando Rodriguez-Rodriguez in an exclusive interview with Chairman Meow Magazine, “but what happens when you put zombies in it? Nobody knows, but they’ll find out soon. We’ll all find out soon.” And, with Xbox Live Indie Games interest flagging under reports of poor sales, difficulty locating the section in the Dashboard while inebriated, and super-smart people saying super-smart things on web forums, the game couldn’t be released at a better time.

“We were following trends and noticed that most people were buying Xbox360s for the DVD player, the Xbox Live Vision Camera, and the Calculator app on XBLIG, but not for games,” Gato continues, “I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES!!1 will change that. You’ll be playing our game. It has zombies in it. Ok bye.”

I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 will arrive on Xbox Live Indie Games on August 16, 2009. It will cost 80 Microsoft Points.

The song alone is worth the $1 price tag:

Hand over your dollar here.

The Game Wiggles its Way on to Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare(TM), PlayStation(R)Network and Mobile Devices

NEW YORK, August 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gameloft, a leading developer and publisher of downloadable video games, today announced a multi-year licensing agreement with Interplay to develop, distribute and publish Earthworm Jim, a popular run and gun platform video game featuring an earthworm who dresses up in a Super Suit to fight evil. The game will make its way to mobile, WiiWare(TM), PlayStation Network, with an exclusive one month run on Xbox Live(R) Arcade.

"We are delighted to partner with Interplay to bring Earthworm Jim to multiple downloadable platforms," said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president, Gameloft. "The game, with its humorous and edgy style, is a great fit for today's gamer who craves a fully immersive experience that is fun and easily accessible. Jim takes refuge in the space suit while fleeing from hungry birds. The suit's powerful atomic particles cause him to grow and obtain newfound powers.

The game will be available in the last quarter of 2009. For the latest information on the game, follow Gameloft on our Twitter feed: http://www.twitter.com/Gameloft

Football Genius

RTL Interactive have revealed their third digital download game in the past few months with Football Genius - The Ultimate Quiz for Xbox Live Arcade.

Football Genius is a simple quiz game based in the world of Soccer. It will include six different quiz categories based on the international, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish Football worlds with a total of 3,500 questions total, and will support 4 player online and offline play.

The game appears quite bare bones - it's just a straight up quiz from the likes of it. There doesn't appear to be video or picture based questions - just multiple choice text. The game will support the Scene It? buzzers though, which is always good. The only other XBLA quiz game was Wits and Wagers, and it wasn't received all that well, but hopefully with more focus and the use of Avatars this one will do better.

The game is set to be released in the next few months, so expect it soon.
