Forums - Gaming - What should Konami do with the MGS series?

Solid Snake's story has ended with a bang and MGSR is coming out sometime in 2010. Do you think that they should continue the series with Raiden's story, or should they introduce a whole new Metal Gear universe with brand new characters and make it into a saga like they did with the first 4 games? Should they remake the old Metal Gear games that were on the NES, and also MGS1, 2, etc. or should they just scrap the entire series and make a new IP? Also, which way do you think the gameplay should head? Should they make it an all out action game, kind of what Rising looks like, or should they make it purely stealthy like the first few games, or a mixture of both like MGS4, which relied mostly on stealth but could be played as a shooter? Do you guys also think they should change the Metal Gear formula completely and put less emphasis on the story and cutscenes, or should they abandon what the first 4 games were and go a completely new direction with that?

It should have ended with 4.

Metal Gear Raiden should have then been the new game.

They should put it down, Old Yeller style.

there just milking the series now... MGS4 should have been the last

I think Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 from the MSX2 should be remade

Kill it. Completely. No new games, and only maybe remakes.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

no just remakes.

Already remaked.

Better controls, graphics and cutscenes directed by some japanese action director.  Great game.
