The legendary Japanese publisher has announced a new European unit to publish in-house and Eidos titles in the region.
Square acquired Eidos back in April, and the British outfit will continue running as a developer, with current Eidos CEO Phil Rogers heading the new publishing department. Franchises such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Hitman will now be published over here under the tentative banner of Square Enix Europe, which will combine the Square Enix and Eidos European sales and marketing businesses to create “one efficient and powerful structure for game publishing.”
“It would seem Eidos' publishing days are over”
Eidos UK also confirmed that the Eidos brand will remain for titles developed by its studios, but unless Square feels particularly generous when it comes to unveiling the final name for it’s new European wing, it would seem Eidos’ publishing days are over.
