It comes out July 11, the week ends July 12. The game has two days...

I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy VIII has the highest one right now with 2.6m week one.

There are a still a couple days left to preorder...and preorders are 2m...

I'd expect it to do 2.7m or so. Pretty good shot at being the biggest opening ever in Japan.

I believe Final Fantasy VIII on the PS2 has the biggest first week of just under 2.6 million on the original Playstation.  I'm not entirely definite on that but I believe that was it.

DQIX definitely has a chance but it will be only 2 days instead of the usual 3 so I don't know how much that will affect it for at least first week numbers.

If it doesn't get biggest opening week, it could at least get highest LTD of any DQ game.

Very few games do 2.0m week one in Japan. What is amazing is that this game could do 3.0m week one in Japan.

Nintendo should hae paid Squeenix to make this a DSi only game - then DSi sales would be massive right now.

Why would 3.0m week 1 in Japan be a record for cart-based games and not just games in general?  So was FFVII the best opening week ever in Japan as Zucas stated?

1.6m week one is the cartridge based record, 2.6m is the all time week one record in Japan.
