Forums - Nintendo - IGN AU Wii Sports Resort review

I decided to read the rest of the review and spotted a couple more weird things in addition to the contradictory comments about sword fighting:

1- Their impression of the archery game is very positive, they say it feels "remarkably natural" and that it can be "hugely satisfying", with no negative comments in sight. But then, the caption of the picture with the archery game says "More fun than Link's Crossbow Training... not that that's saying much."

Why the sarcastic remark if they really liked the archery?

2- Two quotes from the Wakeboarding part:

Wakeboarding is definitely one of the more engaging single player games

We doubt you'll come back to this over the long term

So Wakeboarding is one of the most engaging SP games in WSR, with Archery being really good as said before... however a really engaging game won't bring you back in the long term?

The review makes some valid points. But it's easy to see that the reviewer has an overly negative attitude towards the game which influenced several parts of the review.

I would really really like to see everyone here playing the Wakeboarding event and sharing their own impressions of it.

Really, to say that is "one of the more engaging single player games (of the package)" is one of the stupidiest things ever

When you play the wakeboarding one, and then the swordfighting... you will never, ever, want to play wakeboarding again.

I don't have patience to read the whole review, but the part about the swordfighting is just weird.

Three quotes from that part:

The problem is that you can move your sword so fast

...

Honestly, Nintendo really should have given us proper 1:1 control and slowed the gameplay down.

...

We want epic swordfights where split second reactions count

Am I the only one who sees a hilarious contradiction or two here?

LOL! No you are not the only one. But lets be real any sane gamers has known for a while that reviewers have had a hard time on HOW to review Wii games. I expect with M+ plus you're going to have the problem even more, where the reviewers FAIL is blamed on the game mechanics i.e: Virtual Tennis, Grand Slam Tennis, Tiger woods, etc...(sigh) just how it is I guess...

@OkeyDokey- TEROOF!!!! lol, but really I like it sometimes cause you do get a good chuckle once in a while, it's just that it begins to grate like cheese on me after the same stuff gets spewed ALL THE TIME...

Well, it is a Nintendo game. What did everyone expect?

Now that's not fair, Nintendo still makes a lot of great games.

WTF? You're joking, right?

They've made the best game this gen.

Nintendo made MGS4?

I couldn't even finish it, the game was so lame.

This may very well be a fair score for Wii Sports Resort but given IGN AU's review history i would be slow to hang my hopes of this game being a critical failure on this review alone.

Anyone who says there isn't some Wii bias in the mainstream media has their eyes closed, but it is becoming a case of the boy cried wolf.

QFT!!!

...It's gotten to the point now that I wonder what review will be called out this time...Man that Gamepro review of The Conduit didn't help matters AT ALL. You just need a few bad apples to spoil the bunch..

How can you say that? Nintendo completely lost it!! My N64 makes better graphics than the Wii, all their games are made for granies play... I heard that they don't allow blood on their games anymore, and that's the reason Red Steel 2 don't have it.

Yes that's right... I'm stating that Nintendo not only don't know how to make great games, as they forbid 3rd parties to make so that they can keep their monopoly!

He said game not movie.

Ps: I'm not being 100% serious before you go bite me in the ass.

No, your N64 doesn't make better graphics than the Wii. Not even close. Strike One. No, all their games aren't made for grannies. I'd say none of them were. Strike Two. No, what you heard is wrong, they do allow blood in their games. Strike Three.

The effort was there. Too bad about the facts, eh?

Thanks for coming out.

Well... Strike one is ok. I do apologise. But my Dreamcast PSP does much better graphics than my Wii!! Did you check the 720p Mario Galaxy pics. It's like a completely new game... full of lightning, bloom, bump mapping, glass textures... AMAZIIIIING!!!

Sorry, the other strikes, I stand correct: my grandmother is the only that plays. My grandmother is the onlt that plays the Wii in my house. Yeah, she's the only that fits in the closet in order to get it! And no blood is allowed anymore... you'll see! Even the next No More Heroes will come in two versions: black dust and orange juice! And imagine the archery game with you hiting live people instead of mellons... would be... oustanding!!! Please MS, make it with Natal. You're the only that can save us from Nintendo's casualty.
