Forums - Nintendo - Third parties on wii

I can’t speak for most countries but hear in the UK third party companies seem to be doing ok on wii. In fact ok may be an understatement as only ten yes just ten nintendo made games make the top 40! So why do some companys ahem thq still believe the old myth?

Let's Tap didn't do so bad.....

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Overlord: Dark Legend sold more than it should have.

And I know it didn't sell at all.

I think the THQ gripe was based on things like Hannah Montana and Ben 10 selling better than Super Mario Galaxy. While I think the THQ guy was out of line, I do agree that its a toss up at times when it comes to the wii. The amazon top 100 is littered with baffling titles. You're absolutely right that third parties can be successful, it just takes some thinking outside of the box and marketting, lots of marketting.

What makes you say that?  Should I not pick it up?

I was very disappointed. Almost the entire game is railroaded (there's very few sidequests, or bonus items to be found that aren't in your direct path, so exploration is almost unnecessary). It's ridiculously easy (I lost a whopping ten units the whole game, and all but one of those were ones I sacrificed). The humor was good and fun, but the gameplay was sorely lacking. It's a fantastic rental, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I'll ever play my copy again.

If you look at the publishers list then you'll understand why THQ is hating on the Wii.

THQ gives PS360 games like Red Faction: Guerilla and Saints Row while their big "hardcore hitters" for Wii include deBlob and Deadly Creatures.  The PS360 games just look and sound like they were meant to sell more... Deadly Creatures seriously?.... it would of sold like crap on the 360 too.

Wow, that sucks. It could've been really good with more dev time.

And when it flops, what will be to blame?

You. For not supporting hardcore games on the Wii.

I did my part.

Don’t get me wrong though there are a lot of great games that failed on wii. But EA are starting to show if you put care into your development and market the game then the wii will print money for everyone
