If you are JRPG fan this is the worst. It's sucks to be a JRPG fan this gen.
Lack of great JRPGs!
There are few exceptions but it's not enough.

for me this gen is a simple continuation of gen 6, the innovative new controllers being the only main difference, but even with HD graphics and such, the games still 'feel' the same as they did back on the PS2, GCN and XBX.

So far for me we havent seen the big leap that was seen from the 8 to 16 or 64 to 128 but gens.

I'd put this gen in 3rd place right behind the 16-bit gen in 1st and the 32/64-bit gen in 2nd.

For some reason I started getting disinterested with gaming towards the second half of last gen, and for a couple years I hardly picked up any new games. Once I got my Wii and 360 though, that all changed... now if only there were some more compelling games being released on the Wii this gen would probably move up to 2nd place on my list.

It is definitely the begining of something new, and the end of something old. It is exciting and dull at the sametime lol. It is definintely filled with more forum topics than I can recall of previous gens.

But I'm enjoying it, and wonder why everyone is worried about "next gen" when the right here and now has some truly memorable games..albeit there are also alot of deja vu type experiences.

It reminds me of the NES era more than anything else.

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

It's the generation consumers said "We don't care that your console breaks, just give us generic shooters after generic shooters and we are happy", so this generation is far from the best.

PS: So there is no doubt i am talking about the 360

It's been good for those who like Shooters.

Sucks if you like RPGs.

This generation has the DS, making it the greatest generation ever. My new DS obsessions? Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor and Ketsui Death Label.

For those talking about the lull in RPGs, is this merely a problem you see on consoles or are you including handhelds? I figured if anything, the DS and PSP would make this among the best for RPGs, between all of the great remakes and original entries.

3rd favorite gen so far. 6th is still the best, followed closely by the 4th.
