Forums - Sales - Why is taking so long to the site update the charts?

It's some technical problem? Or are they waiting the data to update the all the charts together?

For some reason the timeliness on updating sales statistics have become less an less impressive over the last few months.

Used to be that the data for last week was available tuesday/wednesday the following week. Now it is getting more and more common that we get a full week of delay before we get the data, especially North American data has been lagging behind.

Has the sample size increased so it is harder to get the data together in a short time, is the staff overloaded, does it have to do with the shift in focus of the site to be more "gaming news"-centric than before?

This is not meant as a complaint, just curious if this is what will be the norm from now on, that sales data will appear 1-1.5 weeks after the week is over.

- We are working on three brand new areas for the site which will be announced in the next few days

So yeah mainly me being overloaded, part of which is getting a team of people and some better algorithms in place to automate more of the data collection and collation which will in future free me up more to focus on other things.

In 2-3 months things should be up mid week every week without fail - that is where i would like to get it to.

That's no excuse.

Please don't forget your roots ioi... This is a sales site. I like the people here and the work you do but I am a little afraid that things are changing too much and not enough emphasis is put on sales anymore.

Must admit that the UK numbers that have been posted with LTD end of June (and showing PS3 selling as much as Wii and 360 selling double the Wii) are concerning as that shows some major descrepancies with this site's numbers there...

I think we need to wait for ioi to receive clarification on the UK figures before we can get ourselves to bent out of shape.

ioi can you add sorting out the annoying ad banners to your long list. The VIP and the Dragon thing top of that annoying ad list please : )
