Forums - Sales - Sept. Wii software vs PS3 software

It comes from the fanboy school of argument. Choose a set of narrowly defined parameters that proves your point, then cry foul when anyone questions the chosen parameters.

Your right FishyJoe, that's exactly how he has run his debate though this whole thread, he has been dodging bullets the whole way, and it's for all to see. He is a poor debater

dgm, if people wanted a controller, they'd buy a damn controller.. The controller may sway some people, but The fact that they are commiting the extra 10 bucks means they obviously WANT the game too. My god, this is not that complex..

You would not believe it but I bought the Wii play bundle for the controller.

The Wii is really a console where I needed two controllers for.

Sorry but I didn't played Wii play much and I would not have bought Wii play only.

I just bought it because at that time there were only Wii play bundles available an not controllers only :s.

It doesn't matter!

I agree with dgm when he says people buy Wii Play for the controller and the fact that it's just $10 extra. That doesn't matter though. They're STILL paying for Wii Play...they're still paying extra for a game they did not need to buy.

I'd say nearly EVERYONE who buys Wii Play buys it because it has a controller...why would they buy Wii Play if they already had 4 controllers?

The fact is, the controller BUNDLED with the game, neither is "packed-in", is an incentive to buy Wii Play. It's standard marketing...bundles are attractive to consumers. That does NOT discredit it from being counted in software sales though.

The "why" does not matter...one of dgm's main arguments for this thread is that people are just buying Wii Play because of the controller. So what! That's the main attractiveness of Wii Play, really.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The site could always add two columns to the charts, one for unit price and the other for grand total so people would be able to see how much money consumers are actually spending on videogames broken down by platforms. For example Wii Sports would be at $0 since it's a pack-in (the money would have been counted for it under consoles), Wii Play would be $10, greatest hits would be $19.99 or whatever they are, etc.

Except not all games sell at the same price.  Even when priced the game.  A 60 dollar game is like 88 US dollars in Australia at first... then the price drops until people would actually buy it.

There is no way to tell if someone is buying a 60 dollar game at 60 dollars, 80 dollars, 20 dollars or getting it free with an in store promotion.

You bring up a point; I should have said that I believe most people buy the bundle for Wii Play.  Sory for saying that wrong.

Although I have to ask.  Why did you buy the bundle for the controller if you could have just bought a controller for what I would assume less money.

Just to knitpick; dgm6780, ioi said that he believes Wii Play and Wii Sports would sell at similar levels(I assume lower) to what they are at now, and not at the exact levels. Thus he knows that some sales would be lost if not for the bundles.(I would assume this is what he meant)

I bought Wii Play for the controller, it's a pretty cool deal getting a bunch of minigames for $10 with your 2nd controller. Had Wii Play cost $30 a la carte I would have passed.

True and I corrected myself after konnichiwa's statement.  However, how much did Wii Play affect your decision to spend the extra money for the bundle.

But if you were in the store and you saw Wii Play sitting on the shelf for 10 dollars when you bought the controller wouldn't you have bought it?
