I'm sure we've all heard the rumours of the PS3 Slim being added to the line-up 'some time this year' by an unnamed source. Well now, Taiwanese site UDN reports that Sony has signed Foxconn and Pegatron to start sending units out this this month.
UDN writes "Upstream component makers that the new Sony PS3 console OEM orders formally approved last week, of which Hon Hai Heshuo pie with 50 percent of all orders, is expected to ship from the beginning of July to meet the summer demand."
"second place provider Foxconn, got only about two percent of orders."
And just incase that doesn't scream PS3 Slim already, UDN goes on to say: "It is understood that the upcoming Sony PS3 to the new machine is small, the appearance than the previous generation models more light, which Sony will be next year before the new generation game console, PS3 to the last paragraph."
Here are the shots from Engadget featuring the ports of the new model:
Along with this PS3 Slim set to drop earlier than expected, the article also mentions that the PS3 Motion Controller is "expected to be officially launched next spring, hope and Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox360 Competition."
However, there's still no confirmation on the price cuts that we're all expecting this year, but it seems inevitable if Sony's current gen console range is to compete with the Xbox and Wii.
