Forums - Gaming - How important is online for you in a game? Care only for SP?

Only really played online with PSO and Maple Story. Other than that, online to me is to keep in touch with what everyone else is doing while I do my own thing online.

Even if I'm subscribed to Xbox Live Gold on my 360,
Even if I have PSN on my PS3...

I don't play mutliplayer match online.
I'm more of a Single Player person.

I LOVE Xbox Live for the content, the media, 1vs100, demos, trivia, friends... but I rarely play online.

Why pay for Gold then?
To support the future, to fund and thank Microsoft for bringing Gaming to the next level.

(My wife also have a Xbox Live Gold account: Katou20)

My Gaming Setup

it depends on the genre though i'm more into singleplayer and offline co-op/multiplayer than online. i prefer online multiplayer(not co-op) in shooters since on splitscreen you kinda now where everyone else is. not in everyone cause many of them are strictly singleplayer experience like Condemned 2 or Turok.i prefer online in racing sims as well simply because it wouldn't work good on one console and tv screen/monitor. i hate online and any kind of offline in rpgs and jrpgs - it's about singleplayer and nothing else matters(though there are games like Monster Hunter that are build from the ground for co-op).

I'm not big into online either. Occasionally I'll spring for a bit of live to get an online Halo fix, but most multiplayer games I think are more fun over a LAN/split screen anyway, like Castle Crashers or Left 4 Dead.

Plus I really like games like Bioshock and Mass Effect that have such a strong single player campaign that there's sometimes just no need for online.

It's the most important aspect of a game. Think of WKC. After you finish the amazing story, you can play online if you're bored. Online is just to extend the lifetime of the game.

Online? Nah, don't need it in my games. I used to try to play some online way back when (Diablo 1), but the cheaters and hackers removed my enjoyment of it. So I stopped. And since, from what I hear, it's still going on, I'm not going to bother. I want to play a fun and fair game. If either of those is not present, I don't want to play.

Glad to know that majority in this thread so far share my view.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

for me its single-player / co-op / local multiplayer first before online, but online is a really fun addition to most games.

Online competetive multiplayer is pretty much a non-factor to me. I might try it out, but not a single online competetive multiplayer has ever had me hooked.

Coop on the other hand, is very important, both online and offline (though offline much more so). Resistance 2 would never have been a good game to me if it hadn't had the coop setup, of allowing both splitscreen and playing over the internet (which by turn allows me to create Resistance 2 LAN events, which are fucking awesome!).

that's why i stopped playing many games online(just look at Medal of Honor Heroes 2on psp where 90% of all the players are cheaters). i don't get it why anyone would cheat in online games - it's just no fun at all.
