Forums - Gaming - PS3 v.s 360 Cost Comparison... PS3 Is Cheaper To Game On!

these kind of comparisons always strike me as incredibly one sided. The experiences are not comparable when all the prices have been tallied up. Why not include the price of additional trigger augementations on the PS3? Why not include the price of cross-game video chat, and conference calling on the PS3, oh yeah you can't because said features are unavalable. The same with blu-ray on the 360.

The comparison isn't as black and white as this article would have you believe.

Why do people start threads like this, when it is well know on here that such threads will be ripped to shreads and make the original poster look stupid? Is the belief if you keep posting enough, reality will change?

@chacron

they should also include the price to repair the ps3

(and the cost of netflix and last fm...wait nevermind )

I thought you were leaving VGChartz, then you come back posting fanboy written articles that are flat out lies. Shame on you BHR.

It's a lie that that guy chose to buy a PS3 because it was more reliable? Or is it a lie that a wireless adapter costs $100, Live costs $50, and repairs (if you aren't under warranty) cost $139? The PS3 has an impressive line up? The 360 has superior online capabilities? Please tell me where the flat out lies are. Please

I have rrod 5 times( major pinata sessions) cost to me $0

My neighbor ps3 died once, cost to him $220

You want to know why RRoD cost you $0? #1 It probably happened after the extended warranty and #2 The extended warranty only came into to play because so many 360s RRoD'd and once it became known as a widespread hardware problem, M$ couldn't ignore it, nor could they charge you for it because it was essentially their fault.

You want to know why the PS3 repair cost your friend $220? Because PS3 rarely (less than 1% of the time) fail, so there's warranty program.

It's just like what happened with Rock Band. You used to have to pay for the drum pedal repair, until it became known that the production was faulty, so EA started fixing it for free

^^ Massive LOL, it doesn't matter WHY, what matters is the facts.

This comparison was made a lot of times. 360 fans still fought against that and ps3 fans still backed up their arguments.

I however agree that the ps3 is cheaper. It's just that people don't tend to think when they see this gen's console as cheap as that. They just buy it and hope to play, without knowing the extra fees and the risks.

Well, not my prob.

So? this thread is about how much the systems cost. Not the fail rate. With the $220 I can buy a new xbox 360

When will the Sony boys learn that the PS3 is selling PATHETIC for being HALF THE PRICE of the Xbox 360? THEY SHOULD JUST GIVE UP, because no price cut is going to save their ebony machine from its certain fate! Its time to FACE FACTS people! The Xbox 360 is selling because people want it, and thats something Sony has simply failed to do. Every time I see someone whining about sales, I think about comparisons like this which PROVE BEYOND DOUBT that the XBOX 360 is simply the better console. BETTER CONSOLE!

LOL.

What many people often forget is that the Wii comes with a lot of hidden costs as well. Since it's primarily a party machine you only get out of the closet to show off to friends, you need a set of four controllers. Three additional Wiimotes and Nunchuks cost $180 and the now required four Wii Motion Plus accessories add another $80 to the total cost.

So the Wii costs $510 to game on, making the PS3 the cheapest console on the market. Yet it's getting outsold despite coming with Blu-Ray and futureproof technology.

Rofl.

$130 for repairs? He knows there's a 3 year warranty, right? Does the warranty get reset if you send your 360 in for repairs?

Wireless is not compulsory, and sure Microsoft charges a ridiculously high price for Wi-Fi, but you can't really list that as part of the 360's price, because some people will just use wired, which is faster and doesn't disconnect as often.
