I have a 360 and a PS3. I personally think they are both fine. PS3 has not so many popular games right now, but I find them just as good.
I do always have a tendency to support the underdog in these console wars, which is the PS3. Last generation, forums were always flooded with hate for the Gamecube, so I supported that. But I remember every piece of Gamecube news would be spun negatively - especially the Windwaker fiasco.
I bet now days, if Windwaker was first released, people would be saying "Ohhh It's SO INNOVATIVE!" Back then, it was "What kiddy cartoony crap is this?"
I think it's the nature of some PS3 owners and X360 owners to hate each other. The same goes for Chevy vs. Ford, Coke Vs. Pepsi, Nikon vs. Canon, Americans vs. Canadians, England vs. France, PC vs. Mac, etc., etc.
It's the nature of humans to find a group to be loyal too. In my marketing class, we had an interesting discussion on fanboyism.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
