Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto says 'wait' for a new Kid Icarus

I can't really say I'd be excited for a Kid Icarus game... I mean there comes a time when Nintendo has to come up with original ideas and stop rehashing IPs from over 2 decades ago simply because a tiny fraction of their audience has a bad case of nostalgia.

No one but the hardest of the hardcore Ninty fanboys would be interested in a game with "Kid Icarus" in the title... personally I'd be much more interested in a new Pikmin, because that is a much more well known franchise today, and there's tons of potential for it on the Wii with the motion controls and pointer interface.

+5 respect for having pikmin hyped
-5 for saying only die hard nintendo fans will want a new kid Icarus

Tag:I'm not bias towards Nintendo. You just think that way (Admin note - it's "biased".  Not "bias")
(killeryoshis note - Who put that there ?)
Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

Biggest pikmin fan on VGchartz I won from a voting poll

I am too old to get excited over games that probably don't exist. Heck, I barely get excited over games that do exist.

Ditto. Show me Zelda first.

Nintendo can easily put a 2D game in 3D (it's one of the things that Nintendo does best), so everybody knows that the next Kid Icarus can be a 3D game (like Zelda), that's why a lot of people want to see this game becoming true. I think that Kid Icarus can be a new franchise.

Kid Icarus has to be right first, thats what he's saying.

I believe its still coming.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I will wait as long as I have to, so they can make it great. Not that I have a choice. Anyways, a new Kid Icarus game would be great, but I will not get to excited till it is announced.

We simply must stop getting outselves into such a frenzy over everything Miyamoto says... He just said "Wait" that could mean anything..

...hmmm...
seems like he's not totally oblivious

would be cool if it ever happens. but nintendo is lazy in bringing the games the fans want from their awesome past and release a new one so we can enjoy it. like i have been wanting a new donkey kong game , and i have been wanting since donkey kong 64 for a new one.

Exactly I want to see Nintendo support Donkey Kong and Starfox before Kid Icarus. We've been waiting all generation for a new StarFox and Donkey Kong. Give us them then give us Kid Icarus!

Maybe theyre a little intimidated about a 20 yo franchise after Punch Out's less than sensational opening.
